Due Date

By the way today is my actual due date, boy am I so happy to have had Maylee one week ago! She is still just a little thing, here she is, head to toe in premie clothes.
I don't know why her hair looks reddish, its not red at all. More dirty blond then anything, maybe Matt was right and she'll be a brunette.

Birthday Syrup and some other random pictures

Thanks everyone for the wonderful Birthday wishes, as an adult there really isn't that same excitement of a birthday rolling around compared to when you are turning 10... As a mom it's just another day taking care of the kids. This Birthday was great though because Matt didn't have work or school, that hasn't happened in years, and my MOM was here too! I had a good day and I think Suzanne did too.
We went to Texas Roadhouse for our Birthday dinner. Here are my two favorite boys. What is up with Ty's eye? I have no idea and my red eye thing wont fix it...
After dinner we went back to our house to have cake and ice cream and open presents. My mom made me this YUMMY Chocolate cake and she made Suzanne the homemade oreos because she isn't a cake fan.
Suzanne helped me a bit on that last one haha. We put pop rocks in the frosting for the oreos, if we would have eaten them right away it was a pop rock explosion... but since we waited a few hours after dinner they weren't as poppy. In fact Preston, who came over after all his tests, thought they were just sprinkles.
Upon watching Suzanne and I blow out candles Ty wanted in on the action too.
Here is Suzanne opening her present from us, We got her a Deluxe Manicure and Pedicure...
AND some cute new Summer sandals to show off her toes when they are done :) I got a gift certificate for me and for Kristin too so we can all go and get pampered together!

I got a new BYU hoody, Silpat (not sure if that is how you spell it) mats for baking and cooking and a STROOPWAFEL Iron. I am trying to find a good recipe now so I can try it out. I think it can make homemade waffle cones too. Should be a fun thing to try out!

Here is a random picture that is too good not to post. The day before I had Maylee, Matt and I were cleaning the house top to bottom and we came downstairs to this... a naked Ty in his blanket with nothing but a hat on watching a movie, funny child. FYI we stripped him down because he had diaper rash, so no he doesn't take off all his clothes by himself.
This is what it looks like most of the time now too. Both kids on our laps. Ty says Baby Baby but we THINK he is trying to say Baby Maylee. He is so cute with her.

A big thanks to my mom who left this morning for staying with us the last week! She is always the best, SO helpful and I think she moved up about 10 notches on Ty's favorite people Totem pole.

More Good News!

Matt got the job! They interviewed a TON of people and he was one of three (we think) that they hired on. He starts May 16th in the Investment Associate position but the VP said they weren't sure where they really wanted him so they are going to move him around a bit for the first while to see where he'll do best. Matt is really excited about that idea so he'll get to have a taste of all the areas of the company.

Now we have a ton of planning, preparing and packing to do... Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. We feel like this will be a good move for Matt's career. We are sad to leave all our family, but I am sure we will be visiting Utah often! Vancouver, Washington here we come~

TMT: Thinking Back on it

You know I have been thinking back on the whole not breathing episode. Can I just say how DANG grateful I am that she was NOT in our room with us when it happened? For two reasons exactly, first because I would have had no idea what to do, I think I would have gone hysterical and really melted down. Second is I don't even know if I would have noticed in time. Who knows how long it would have been. I mean I paid attention to her but not every moment, especially at night (considering I had 2 Percocet and Benedryl pumping through my veins I slept like a rock) I could have been asleep and woken to a blue and cold baby. (Shivers down my spine)

So I thank my Father above for having it all play out like it did, that the nurses A) NOTICED and B) took such excellent care of her.

Another side note, it's funny how some nurses you like and some you aren't a huge fan of. The nurse I liked the most, Blanche is who was on duty when everything happened. Thank goodness, she was VERY attentive.

Enough of the creepy what ifs on to what every one wants to see anyway, more pictures.

Uncle Preston holding Maylee at the hospital
Aunt Suzanne holding Maylee at the Hospital
The little lady sleeping all bundled up at the Hospital.
On Saturday when we got home Ty wanted to hold Maylee, he says "MY baby" then he pats her head.
Saturday night I told Matt I wanted to get a picture of them, this is what he came up with he said thats how newborns look in all pictures anyway...
Sunday we took Maylee down to my Grandparents house, this is her first trip besides coming home. Look at that BIG yawn!
Today after her bath bundled up on the couch.

She has been such an easy baby so far. She eats like a champ and has put up with her brothers love wonderfully. She had her newborn check up this morning, her billirubin count checked out great and she has lost a little weight (now she weighs 5 lbs 9 ounces) but nothing too serious. We are SO glad she is home safe and sound with us.

I forgot to say...

During delivery my whole stomach was covered in hives. I didn't notice because of the epidural, but when my nurse went to move my sensors at one point she said "Uhhh are you itchy? Your stomach is covered in hives" Ugh, par for the course, and SO it begins. They tried to get something in my IV before I delivered to help with them but Maylee came too fast so we waited until after. I have been on regular doses of Benedryl since and will start on either Claritin or Zyrtec tomorrow morning until I can get my Xyzal prescription again...

Glad I know about it this time though instead of what happened LAST time. Again, it could be just the stress of having a baby, it could be Pitocin, it could be Penicillin, it could be the Epidural, it could be a mixture of all of the above. Gotta love being allergic to some unknown.

A New Leaf

WHEW! It was the formula. She was NO good on regular formula. We don't know if she is allergic to it or it just seriously upset her stomach. We also aren't sure why she decided to stop breathing over the whole situation. We should have known though, we were hoping she would do okay on regular formula so we could buy the big Costco packs... no such luck. Looks like we'll have to buy the expensive special Similac soy formula. She has been eating well since they switched her, she has to be burped every 5 or so mL and held on her side while eating too. I tried to feed her just now and she wasn't having it. She is a sleepy girl right now. Ty had this same problem except he didn't stop breathing he just puked a TON until we figured it out.

Glad we found out now instead of having something happen at home, again I almost had a heart attack this morning. Yes, I cried a little too, ugh nothing more scary then that.

ANYWAY since we just got her in our room I just barely got a few more pictures of her, 24 hours after birth :)

She has blondish brownish hair, a round little face, and big eyes most likely blue is my guess, just like her brothers.

Finicky Child!

Yes, I think all our children up in Heaven had a pow wow and decided to about give Matt and I a heart attack with in a few hours of being born.

I had her sleep in the nursery last night so I could get some rest. By about 9:30 I was up and getting ready and I wondered why the nurses hadn't brought her to me yet. Then at about 10:00 when Matt got here I asked him to figure out where Maylee was. Our nurse came in and said "Maylee decided that breathing is for rookies this morning. She turned completely blue and had to be put on oxygen and revived. But she is nice and pink and okay now..." Wait What??? Oxygen, REVIVED? Okay a little scary. She was doing well for about 2 hours of monitoring so Matt and I went to the nursery to get her. About 5 feet away from our room she stopped breathing again and was turning really red. I turned to Matt and said "I don't think she is breathing!" Matt kind of yelled for a nurse and she grabbed her and got her breathing again after a second or so. SOOOO back to the nursery she went and she is being monitored some more. They called Dr. Duffy (the Pediatrician) and he has ordered a few tests and wants an IV in her just in case they need to start some anti-biotics. It's fairly common for little tiny ones to stop breathing but not THAT common, especially more than once in a few hours. Dr. Duffy doesn't THINK she is sick, especially since I had 3 doses of penicillin before I delivered her. But he does want to know what her White Blood cell count looks like and some other test ( I can't remember). He told me really he just thinks she is just a picky eater and is going to switch her to soy formula and that she is just spitting up and choking on it. We'll see in a few hours what her blood tests look like, for now she is hanging out in the nursery with an IV in her hand and a monitor on her foot. We'll keep you all posted...

Maylee!

Maylee Elizabeth Spence made her entrance at 4:23 pm, weighing in at 6 pounds exactly and she is 18 1/2 inches long. Not surprising she is a little lady, I measured my waist again this morning right before heading in and I was still 36 1/2 inches. I hadn't gained a single pound in the last 3 weeks, even losing weight so I thought she would be small.

ANYWAY, quick Labor and Delivery recap:

We got to the hospital at 7:30 am, we got my IV in by 8 am and started my penicillin. I about threw up/passed out during that ordeal, I hate IV's! That part was by far the worst of the whole day. I was a 2+ and about 70% effaced walking in the door. I finished my first round of penicillin at about 9:30 so they started me on the Pitocin to start contractions. Again thankfully contractions are about a 2 on my pain scale. My nurse Charlotte kept asking me when I was having them and I couldn't tell her. She had the sensors going but Maylee was kicking them around so much she wouldn't know if they were catching them all or not. I actually took a little nap while waiting for my next "check". We watched a movie too.

By about Noon I was a 3 and thinning quite a bit, they kicked up my Pitocin and at about 12:45 my Dr. came in and broke my water. I thought that would be painful but it doesn't hurt at all. It is weird however just feeling all that fluid gush out of you. After he broke my water they were going to kick up my Pitocin a little more. I was having consistent contracts, 2 minutes apart and I was assured they were quite strong, again i couldn't really tell. My nurse did tell me if I wanted an epidural then was a good time because the Anisteisiologist was available AND may as well if I wanted one. So I got it and the little pain I was feeling went away totally.

At about 1:45 I was a 5+ and thinned almost completely. By 3 pm I was a 7 and pretty much ready, just waiting to finish dilating the rest of the way. At about 4 my epidural started to wear out a little. Yeah, I could feel the contractions and they were pretty painful. I pushed the "extra shot" button which takes about 5-10 minutes to kick in. My nurse suggested that I try to push one time during a painful contraction because usually that helps. I did one practice push and she said "Okay, no more of those, I need to call Dr. England!" So my Doc came in about 2 minutes later just in time for my extra shot to kick in. I pushed 3 times and Maylee was out. She came out nice and pink and crying. What a change from my last delivery! I told Dr. England I was a pro this time.

I had to have an oxygen mask on and off the whole time because Maylee's heart rate would dip a little bit here and there. Luckily I didn't have to have it on the whole time like with Ty. I think if I had my choice I would schedule and induction every time. 8 hours of labor, which was seriously like a 3 or 4 on my pain scale, well those last ones were about a 7 maybe. Planned so I can clean my house and have everything ready. Super fast dilation with the Pitocin and she's out. It was perfect! So EASY! I am telling you having a baby was easier then being on "that time of the month" for me. Especially with the drugs :)

Now I am in zero pain still with just a Motrin to hold me over after the epidural. I tore a little bit during delivery so I have some stitches to worry about, but they aren't painful quite yet. Maylee is doing pretty well. Matt has been feeding her, she has to eat every 2 hours because she is small and her blood sugar levels were low. They have been getting higher and higher since her first bottle however. She got a bath and is sleeping soundly now.

Jordan, who was here for some work stuff was able to come by on his way back home to Rexburg and see us. He said he thought Maylee was cute... I told him "Really? I think she is a swollen old lady baby, you have to wait a few days to see what they really look like." Also, Ty and my mom came to see us. Ty was excited to see the baby but I don't think he really "gets" it that he has a sister that will be with him forever. Oh well he'll figure it out soon when we come home on Saturday.

Cleaning her off right after delivery, kind of gross in my opinion.
Proud Dad
Getting weighed
Proud Mom (Check out that cute hospital gown! I delivered in the hospitals gown then right after delivery changed into this one that Kristin made for me, I think it's awesome and all the nurses keep telling me how cute it is!)
Dad and Mom with sleeping Maylee
I think she looks like Ty, Matt says he thinks they look like siblings but not THAT much alike. I guess we'll see. She has some hair, it's kind of blondish brown I think?
Here is Ty seeing Maylee for the first time.
He kept pointing to her and saying "BABY!" SO Cute huh!
Tried to get a family shot Ty thought my nurse call button was way better then posing for a picture...

P.S. We were worried that we would have her right during the BYU vs. Florida basketball game. She did great by coming an hour ahead of time so I had time to get cleaned up and we could watch the game. What a great Cougar fan she is already! :)

TMT: So Nice

It is so nice to have family around. Both my sisters and mother have been so helpful during this pregnancy. Kristin calls me and always wants to take Ty... which is great, all though I told her no today because I didn't want to be lonely all day :) She did take him for 2 days last week and I pretty much didn't know what to do with myself! I cleaned my house and did every speck of laundry I could find. I got all the baby stuff washed and folded and put her bassinet together. I did it all in one morning so I had nothing to do the rest of the day! Maybe I'll take Kristin up on her offer for next week when I am a train wreck with a new born, Ty sure loves his cousins AND their back yard!

Also, Suzanne is coming over tonight to spend the night with me, just in case... maybe I can convince her to re-paint my toenails while here in preparation for the big L&D coming on Thursday.

Also, my mom is coming out tomorrow so that she can take Ty on Thursday while Matt and I are at the hospital.

My Father in Law also just sent us about 9 new church cartoon movies for Ty to watch. We've watched 3 all ready. They are perfect for a quick 30 minute time filler while I am making dinner or we are waiting for Matt to get home so we can go somewhere. Ty has really enjoyed them.

On top of that I have actually had quite a few people from church stopping by and calling to see how I am doing, that's a first. In fact my visiting teacher has been making our family regular batches of Granola. Our family LOVES Granola and she knew it so she just brings it by every once in a while. Isn't that so nice?

We really have been spoiled with all the love and kindness that has been shown to our little family over the last few months and it has really helped out a ton! We are so thankful to everyone who has kept us in their thoughts and prayers as well. We love you all!

This is for you Grandpa!

Ty is learning how to play golf.

Most of the time he just chases the ball around taking tons of whacks. He likes it.

Well he did get a little distracted with "The Lion King" but usually he plays for a long period of time before he gets bored.

Big News, No not really baby news

Well kind of baby news... I had my last appointment today. No change at all. When I say no change I mean NO change. I didn't gain any weight (in fact I lost a little somehow) I still measure exactly the same 36-ish weeks, I am still dilated the same and still about 50% effaced.

SO that is the baby news. I took this as good news actually, why you ask? Because next week Matt will be out of town for a few days, again, WHY you ask? What on earth would warrant Matt to go out of town for a few days just DAYS before his wifes due date? Yep, a job interview. A big one...

Matt has gone through 3 phone interviews and a background check and is flying out to Portland on Monday to interview with a company in Vancouver, Washington called Fisher Investments. This opportunity just kind of fell in our laps. We have some friends that moved out there in October to work for the company and we always told him to keep his feelers out for when they are hiring again near Matt's graduation... well our friend called the beginning of February and told us that they are hiring again and that he all ready told HR that he would get them Matt's Resume. WOW! So we got it to him, he gave it to HR and after about 30 minutes they had called Matt for his first phone interview. Since then it has been weeks in between interviews and has been very stressful for Matt. Just waiting to hear back is killer! It's a very good opportunity for him, he would be doing almost the same thing he does for his current employer but the ability to move up in the company is a lot better and so are both the pay and benefits! Plus the cost of living is actually less in Vancouver then it is here in the Salt Lake area.

Now you all must be thinking when would you move? You won't be near so much family any more!? What will you do with your house? What if you go into labor while Matt is 2 states away?

Yeah let me tell you we are thinking those same things. I have slept little to none in the last month because I keep running every possible scenario in my head. Now you know why I have been a little stressed and maybe just a titch short tempered over the last month or so. Crazy hormonal pregnant woman who doesn't know when her baby is coming or if her husband is even going to be there when she is born, where her and her family are going to live in the next 2 months, or really when ANYTHING is going to happen. I want to make room for Maylee in our house here but what is the point if we're moving in May? Her stuff can stay in a box for a month until she has her own room. But what if Matt doesn't get the job, or what if he does and they want to hire him on in July then do I move all Maylee's stuff around? UGH, I can't make plans for anything coming in the near future and it's killing me. I have come to use the term, "When we know, we'll let you know" when anyone asks about anything. (Wanna do a Triathlon with me in June? When will you bless Maylee? Are you coming out to visit us this summer? Can you come to our wedding? Can you help me with this in the next few months? and the list goes on)

This final interview will determine if he gets the job, it will be with one of the Vice Presidents of the company. Hopefully he does well, and hears back from them very soon, yes or no. If yes, we hope to know the hire date soon too so we can get the ball rolling that way. Looking at rental houses, getting someone to rent our house here, saving for moving expenses... craziness. I shake my head at it all and am slowly learning to just take one day at a time. That is a tough one for me. Not sweating the stuff coming in the future and worry about the little decisions today because I can't really control the changes coming in the future right now.

SO either I hope to have this little Maylee lady Saturday or Sunday... OR keep my legs crossed until my inducement scheduled for the 24th because Matt comes back on the 23rd. Who knows, we are on God's timetable... I just sure hope I don't have to deliver a baby by myself, all alone.

P.S. No I don't want anyone else there but Matt. I don't even want to be there so why make anyone ELSE be there. Having my mom or a sister there with me is just gross in my opinion. I CAN do it by myself, it's not that per say, but as a parent that is just something you shouldn't miss... the birth of a child is kind of a big deal. SO we are praying a ton for sooner or later... nothing in between. Won't you join us with those prayers? A good Job interview with a safe and timely delivery of our child would be just wonderful.

Remembering

Today is a day of remembrance for me.

My cousin and his wife found out that their little Jack didn't make it in the womb so he was a still born a few days ago last year. Also my Aunt and Uncle had a still born as well many years previous. Normally I would go visit my little cousin Emily's grave in Sale Lake but I don't know if i'll make it before I have this baby of my own. I'll try for afterwards I think. Better late then never :) Maybe little Maylee is hanging out with her cousins right now!

The other person is my Mother-in-Law that I like to try and remember today. It's been I think 12 years since she passed. I never met her but I feel like I know her. I hope she is getting all the snuggles she can right now from Maylee in Heaven because I think her little spirit is going to join us down here on earth very soon. She can move right on to her next granddaughter, Jordan and Michaela's little lady :) I bet she is just loving it.

Anyway, so it's not a sad day, it's a happy one. A reflective day, a day to be thankful for my family, for my healthy baby girl coming soon and my healthy happy son. As I laid in bed last night for the 4 or 5 hours I didn't sleep I got up at about 4 am and checked on Ty. He sleeps so sweetly, I gave him a little kiss and told him I loved him. He is such a joy to Matt and me and I am so thankful for him. I know my heart is about to double in size too when the next one is born so I am making sure I share the love.

TMT: Right...

John 16:21
"A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world."

I laughed out loud when I read this last night during Family Scripture study. I seem to remember this one backwards. Labor and the actual delivery were just fine with Ty, but the second that epidural wore off it was about 2 weeks of torture. Let's hope it's different this time like Jesus says it's supposed to be!

800

Wow! This is my 800th post! Crazy!

Okay so nope, no baby yet. I am okay with that though. Matt has a lot going on and as long as I have an end in sight these few days are endurable. I am getting as much one on one time with my little Ty guy as possible since I won't ever have just me and him time at home alone ever again.

He follows me around wherever I go and this time he wanted his picture taken. So there he is messy hair with his pajama's still on.

While Ty was napping last week I made another few hair bows. I actually made them for Sierra and Elena, but I decided to make one for Maylee for next year too. But hey, at this point she might actually get to wear it this year! In case you can't tell, it's a clover for St. Patricks Day.

Saturday I made a little bowl of fruit dip and brought some Apples, Strawberries, Grapes and Bananas to the Readings house so we could watch the BYU vs. SDSU tournament championship game. Ty really liked it all. Of course he liked fruit but he liked the dip most!
While we were there we kept trying to get him to understand the double dip rules and that you have to eat the fruit that you use to dip. He didn't get it so we put it up while watching the game so only adults could have it. When we got home we let him have at it with a spoon and he was in HEAVEN! Yes BYU lost it wasn't a great game but we have a little higher hopes for this week.

We are excited for March Madness! Saturday, Matt and I watched about four Basketball games while doing all our Saturday duties. It was awesome! I can't wait for the NCAA tournament starting Thursday! I need to fill out my brackets! :) Go Cougars!

p.s. today is 3.14, PI Day... so everyone needs to make a PIE for dessert for their families tonight. Since I am not in a real Martha Stewart type mood I am making no bake Strawberry Cheesecake. It can pass off as a pie right?

Update

To address the four things I was concerned about:

Yes, Maylee's head was down, she was exactly the position I knew she was in. I can usually tell you right where most of her body parts are at any given time. In fact the nurse was trying to find her heart beat and she was on the way wrong side so she said "Do you know where her heart beat is?" I just pointed and she put it on there low and behold there it was 136 bpm going strong. Normally my Dr. does this but he was triple booked this morning and was having his nurses do more then they usually do. Plus I am still measuring small, but it's okay. Dr. Said Maylee is going to be a pretty small little lady. I am okay with that considering Ty was average sized and left me in ruins. Smaller is better, I am guessing in the high fives or six pound range.

I had no protein in my sample...

I am however still Strep B positive so my Dr. doesn't want to take chances... I am doomed to have penicillin while delivering regardless. Boo

I talked to him about being induced on the 24th because that is when Matt's Spring Break is and it would just work best for us then, he asked me how good my chocolate chip cookie recipe was with a smile then said that he would induce me then no problem. SO there is an end in sight! I wont go longer then the 24th, I am the first one scheduled that morning :)

He then asked me after the ultrasound if I wanted to be checked I said "Sure, why not, but I don't think I am going anywhere any time soon though..." turns out I am almost a 2 and 50% effaced! What? With Ty when I WAS a 2 and 60% effaced I had him 3 days later... SO Doc said he wouldn't be surprised if I didn't make it to my next appointment on Friday. Yippee! So not only do I for sure only have 2 weeks left but it may be even shorter!

Other news I don't have to be on modified bed rest anymore, I made it the full 37 weeks and that was the goal so now I can do whatever I want! Funny cause I still don't think I can do much, just walking around for more then 15 minutes and I am exhausted. But hey, at least now I can go for a walk or take Ty to the park! Maybe it will induce labor and i'll have her in the next few days! I guess we'll see. I'll be disappointed if I make it to my next appointment now... Anyway so things are looking good and looking up. I am excited to be done being pregnant soon!

Full Term, in all its glory...

Yes, I am officially full term (that means over 37 weeks people) and can go ANY DAY NOW! HAHA Okay yeah I keep telling myself that so I do my hair and make-up  uncharacteristically early these days. I don't want to be caught off guard and look like I did last time. I keep a right after delivery picture of myself on my camera to remind myself how I looked after delivery with Ty, to accurately describe it I would say I looked like I was ran over by a semi-truck many times and put in a hospital gown (moo-moo). This time will be different, I'll at LEAST have a different hospital gown on, my sweet sister went and made a custom one for me! It's brown and pink with a little sash to wear with it. What no picture you say? You'll see it in the L&D photo's I am not going to go prancing around wearing it now silly people. All this sound shallow? You bet, I know it's shallow but in my opinion nothing makes me feel LESS attractive then pregnancy and child birth and I gross myself out every day really. I can't wait to be done with this part and have a sweet little newborn to take care of instead of having her beat the right side of my rib cage to death.

So here I am in all my 36 and 1/2 inch waist glory... blah.

I have an appointment tomorrow where we'll do an ultrasound, test my protein levels, my Strep B status and he'll do another "check". I am hoping that Maylee's head is down (I am 99% sure it is), that my protein levels are good, that I am clear of Strep B and I am dilated at least a little bit. I doubt I'll get it all or even have made any progress but a girl can hope can't she?

Happy Birthday to me!

My mom got me my Birthday present early this year. As many of you have been to our house know, we have had this painting that my Grandfather did hanging in our living room for nearly 5 years un-framed. Now it is BEAUTIFULLY framed! We went and picked it up yesterday :) Thanks Mom and Dad for the birthday gift, it looks lovely!
Another funny thing about my birthday that I thought I would mention is a conversation I had with Suzanne and her Mother In Law Marianne.

Marianne "Mickie, When are you due again?"
Me: "The 31st"
Marianne: "Oh, that is just one day after your Birthday, you could share a Birthday with your little lady!"
Me: "No! I don't WANT to share my Birthday with anyone else, especially not my child, then it wouldn't be my special day it would be hers! How Lame would that be!"
Suzanne: "What are you TALKING about Mickie"
Me: "Oh I guess I don't mind sharing with you, since I always have. It's fun sharing with you but not a child of mine... hahaha whoops"

Fun stuff

Okay no more of this Debbie Downer stuff!

Friday Kristin came up all day we made more hair bows while the kids played. I was super excited to learn how to make them. Of course I still don't have NEARLY enough and i'll just have to start keeping my eye out for cute ribbons to match all of Maylee's little outfits. She did get quite a few more though huh! Aren't they cute? The blue flower is made out of satin binding left over from a blanket, it ended up matching BYU's colors just right. Can't wait for her to wear it.
I have some BYU fabric too that I can't decide what to do with. My S.I.L. Michaela made Maylee a SUPER cute blanket and she sent me instructions on how to make it since it was so easy. If you remember I have had troubles in the past making baby blankets. Maybe I should make a BYU blanket for Maylee out of it OR I could make a cute outfit? Can't decide...

Also Kristin brought up another 15 movies or so. It has been SOOO nice to watch something different. Ty has enjoyed them too! The Lion King, Alladin, Pixars' Shorts, Cat in the Hat, Oliver and Company, Robin Hood and various Sing Along Song movies are among the titles we have watched so far. Ty has enjoyed them all.
Ty was watching Lion King for the first time, he was pretty concerned for Simba!
We still aren't sure what Ty has/had the last week and a half... wait 2 weeks, I don't know. He just hasn't been his normal self for a long while. He hasn't ran a temperature since yesterday afternoon so we are counting our blessings. He has stretched both Matt and mines patience to the limit, but every day we try to just move on. Kids his age have this uncanny ability to forget when you are less then kind and loving at 3 a.m. and still want to cuddle with you at 7 a.m. They are so easy to forgive! I too am working on forgetting how miserable it has been and start every day fresh, through new (all be it bloodshot) eyes. So what if I got a collective 12 hours of sleep over the last 4 days. Today will be better I tell myself!

I only have 3 and a half weeks left and since being on modified bed rest I haven't been able to exercise. I'll be honest I am looking closer to a beached whale then myself every day. My weight gain goals blew by a few weeks ago, tears were shed but there isn't much I can do about it. Matt tells me my assessment is not even close, but that is how I feel. I think at my next appointment on Friday I am going to discuss on how soon I can be induced. I would really RATHER go naturally, BUT Matt's Spring Break is the 21st-26th and that is looking like a really good time for my mom to come too so hopefully the stars can align and Maylee can come then.
Lastly my S.I.L. Kelly has agreed to take Maylee's newborn photo's for us. I am excited and have started looking up different things that I think she could do for the photo's. She has just set up her own little studio and everything! Check out some of her work at KellySpencePhotography.blogspot.com
This is my DARLING niece Ashlyn, an example of my S.I.L.'s photography

Getting through: (nasty, sugar free, store bought, freezer burned, plain waffle post)

As I sit here, at 7:05 a.m. having been awake for about an hour I realize the goal of this week was to just get through. On to the next week, hopefully things will be better. We've also taken Ty in to the Doctors office and called the on-call Doctor this week. It's never fun when your child is sitting on the couch so lethargic that he doesn't even tell you when he see's a balloon in the movie. His temperature was somewhere between 102.6 or 103.1 yesterday, depending on which thermometer you believe. Matt got home after school and went to get some more Motrin, we had been using Tylenol and it wasn't working. All day though Ty had been receiving a nice Shiatsu massage while sitting on my lap from his baby sister.

Also, we've come to know how hard it is to plan anything when life is so uncertain. When will our family of three be made to a family of four? I wish I knew so we could plan out everything else this month. Everything is contingent upon this or that and let me tell you as my patience has been made to extend in that situation, my patience with other things has diminished unfortunately. Matt pointed out last night that I have been kind of mean lately. Sorry to all I have been overly critical or mean to, I have no excuses for it.

In an effort to escape for a while I did read a nice book while Ty watched his three movies yesterday in and out of his naps. It's called The Blue Castle and it's free to read on-line HERE. My mom sent it my way, her book club is reading it this month. It was a nice easy read, a bit wordy in the middle there but gets you back in the end. Oh and it's a girl book for sure...

In other news, yes we know our beloved Cougars got blown out of the water at HOME against UNM on Wednesday and Yes we know all about the Brandon Davies suspension... just one more thing that was added to the week of blah. Boo.

Here's to a great weekend and a better week next week: We're praying for good news, a healthy Ty, Sunshine and productiveness. :)

TMT: Choosing to Find the Bright Spot

I am not going to lie, today was a bad day, a REALLY bad day. Well, when one wakes up to being whacked in the forehead with a 2 cell maglite things will inevitably start off a little rough. It wasn't malicious, he just wanted me to turn it on for him at 7:15 a.m. Yes I am complaining that my son woke up at 7:15 am. He USUALLY wakes up around 8 to 8:30. The little tyke is still recovering from a cold he got on Saturday so he wasn't super happy this morning either. Really what it all boiled down to is I chose to be in a bad mood. Nothing could be done to change it besides what I could do for myself, and I didn't want to be in a good mood. Unfortunately, this misery didn't love company either so I found myself selfishly going in a different room frequently to dodge my extra cuddly and whiny child.

Where is the bright spot in all this? Both my sister's checked up on me, both offering to come help, but like I said I was in NO mood for company and Ty really was okay just watching a movie or playing with his books, Cars, Golf set etc. I turned them both down simply to save them from the vicious rhetoric that may have ensued. Let me tell you it was running through my head as my angry thoughts went rampant. I wasn't angry with anyone or anything in particular, just in a really sour mood finding the pessimism in all things.

Also, Matt didn't have school tonight thankfully and he did just what he should have when he got home from work. He walked in the door, gave me a smile and kiss and with out a word shooed Ty out the door to take him to the park for a while. Hallelujah. All though, I will note my mood had changed by that point due to a 2 and a half hour afternoon nap. Good thing Ty slept that long for his nap too, or did he? Who knows but that is just what I needed.

The last thing I will note that saved me a bit is as I laid in bed just sobbing for no reason at all, Ty came up and laid right next to me, he put his little face right next to mine, wiped the tears from my cheeks and put his hand over my mouth gently and said "No, no, momma..." He didn't want me to cry anymore and the look of concern in his face was just precious. Then his favorite song came on the radio and he got up and did a little happy dance. My mood didn't change instantly, but that sure helped.

So now all is okay, I changed my tune and moved on from my little pity party. A girl needs a down day every once in a while so she can pick herself up, remember she's human and move on. Thanks to my family for being ever so willing to help even when I turn you down.

P.S. Thanks for dinner tonight Kristin, the Chicken was divine :)
