21 to 12 you have got to be kidding me

So yes we got KILLED! We didn't make need adjustments through out the game that would have helped tremendously. Such is life the team we played was nice at least. (well of course they were nice Mickie they were KILLING you) 19 runs in the first 2 innings is ridiculous! Jared and his wife Misty hit homers that was dang sweet oh and Will too! (not Will Wu, Will Clark and not the Giants player another Will Clark) Unfortunately i don't think anyone was on base when the homers were hit. I hit HORRIBLE i couldn't get the ball to go, almost everything was a bunt but not on purpose. I guess we'll just have to cheer up the troops and rally together for next week to redeem ourselves.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MATTHEW!!! He's the big 24! We are going to Tucanos for dinner then going to Cascade Mini golf if anyone would like to join us you are more then welcome! I always want to throw a party for Matt but he never wants one. So I'll "casually" invite everyone. My mom is in town to for Kristin's Ultra sound but ask her what she is having i don't want to break the news but congrats to her! Yay!

Pool Time

Matt and I hit the pool yesterday evening after I went for a run. Well usually at our pool there are 10 little kids running around with their floatys on and just having a good time. That is okay with us.
YESTERDAY on the other had there were 5 boys in the pool, couldn't really tell how old they were, my guess is ages 15 to 19? They were SO obnoxious! They were yelling and tackling each other and trying to drown one another. They had earrings and talked about porn stars. Luckily all the children had left, they mentioned it just a few times or I would have told the guys to stop talking like that. They had their swim suits on so low that I have no idea how they were staying on, of course they were wearing underwear under their swimsuits but the swimsuit itself was below their bum. So weird to me! I don't ever remember being a ridiculously annoying teenager like these boys were. Plus a few of them kept leaving for a smoke break. Smoke Break? Come on guys how dumb are you, so young and all ready smoking cigarettes that much... uhh makes you wonder about where they will end up. Sheesh. Were is the rising generation taking us! I think the good are getting better and the bad are getting worse. Lets all try and get better eh?

Traffic and Road Rage

I would like to announce that my Husband has the weirdest case of road rage on this earth. He hates traffic more than anything and makes fun of all the other drivers around him, he doesn't call them names just "guy" everyone is guy... even if it is some teeny bopper blond girl putting on her makeup while driving he would say... STOP PICKING AT YOUR FACE AND DRIVE GUY! I think it is hilarious. To lazy to decide the sex of the person.
Yesterday driving down to Kristin and Wills we ran into a little traffic on I-15 of course. Well traffic doesn't get to me like it gets to Matt. He talks to everyone, especially those people weaving in and out of traffic almost getting into accidents every time they change lanes he says,... OH YEAH I FORGOT THIS IS YOUR WORLD... EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND WE NEED TO MOVE OUT OF YOUR WAY Well EXCUSSSE ME! Well he only says this to me in the car never the other driver.
Matt says that Utah drivers are not courteous either they will cut you off and not care, they will ignore you (well not ignore but speed up) when you have your blinker on and need to get over, and don't get the concept of just letting off the gas, only brake or gas no in between stop or go... I guess his biggest mistake was buying and manual car it hurts his knees using the clutch so much.
Also he has decided all the drivers in Utah need horse blinders so they can focus on the road not what is happening in the North bound traffic when a car is pulled over 6 lanes away with its hazards on. If you cant help, don't bother slowing down to look, your a whole 6 lanes away and you are going South that person is going North. (I have to admit there are some of the worst rubberneckers I have ever seen around here) We finally got going again and this "guy" pulls up next to us then slows down, then speeds up, then slows down. I was confused then I saw that he was eating. I mentioned this to Matt and he went off..MR APPLE CRISP OVER HERE (He was eating a pop tart I don't know where apple crisp came from which made it even funnier)... COME ON GUY GO FAST OR GO SLOW JUST PICK ONE... CAN'T EAT AND DRIVE AT THE SAME TIME HUH GUY? He then turned to me and said he's firing on all cylinders don't look at him it will confuse him. HaHa. THEN well don't get me started on people who (yes I think all of us do this) talk on your cell phone and drive. I can honestly say almost every time I am having issues with another driver on the road they are on their cell phone and are just plain not paying attention. I find Matt hilarious when he gets road rage but apparently it bothers him so much he is going to buy a bus pass and ride the bus to work everyday and so when he gets stuck in traffic he wont be driving. I don't think it will save us any money but maybe it will save his driving nerves? As for me it's a good work out I just laugh at him the whole time. Don't know we'll have to see.
Disclaimer ~ Matt likes to generalize, I am not accusing all of you of these mistakes that Matt says all Utahns make. I am sure all of you are FINE drivers...

Evan Almighty

For family night last night Matt and I went and picked up our 72 hour kits that a guy in our ward did for his eagle project. I thought it was pretty cool, they packed them all up for us and sealed the cans. So now was have our measly food storage. Then we went and saw a movie. We actually wanted to see Oceans 13 but the next time it was showing was at 1010 and that is too late for us. So our options were Fantastic Four 2, Surfs Up, and Evan Almighty. We chose Evan Almighty. I didn't think the movie was ridiculously funny but it had a really really good message. One you don't normally see in movies these days. Definitely a family movie. Wasn't Bruce Almighty pg-13? Well this one is absolutely PG. I say it lives up to about 2 and a half stars out of 4. Just might be a renter but a good one to see. I want to go see Fantastic Four now and Matt still wants to see Oceans 13. Who knows when we'll do that. We went to the movie theatres just down from our house and we found out that the complex has BOOMED there are tons of restaurants and stores over there that we never knew about! HaHa shows how much Matt and I shop. Oh and no luck on the mountain bikes we couldn't find me a bike there are tons of men's bikes within our price range but no woman's. We'll do some more shopping later.

Tonight Matt is going to try and play basketball for the first time since he sprained his ankle in Feb. He hasn't gone this long in his whole life without playing basketball and it is killing him! We'll see how he fairs, I might be hearing about it tonight. Don't you think 4 months is long enough for a sprain to heal?

OH and Nate I didn't get a "side stitch" when I went running yesterday. I wonder if the breathing worked? I also stretched and warmed up a little before we went. Thanks for the e~mail!

Where have you all been!

HAHA Where have Matt and I been?? Busy... Dang Gina..
Friday I had to go down to our Utah county office all day and help with an Open House. It was like a wedding I swear! We had tables and table settings and all these desserts and roast beef and sausage, Fruit, Veggies, 7 layer bean dip and chips, it was crazy! My job was to get there early and cut fruit like a mad woman then make sure everything was stocked all day. The open house ended at 2:30 so then we started to clean. They over estimated the food by quite a bit so I ended up bringing home gallon size bags of watermelon, strawberries, honey dew, grapes, sausage, roast beef, BYU mint brownies, eclairs, broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, sugar snap peas, and a bag of chips and guacamole. OH and I was given one of the table center pieces (a floral arrangement) SHEESH! When I got home I immediately put away everything in my fridge, it was as full as it has ever been. I then cleaned and cleaned to make sure everything was nice for when Jordan, his fiance Michaela, and her mom Joni came to visit. They ended up not being able to go to the Rodeo so we decided to go by ourselves. Which I guess Kristin and Jason really wanted to go too, I felt really really bad when she called on Sat. morning asking what time to meet us. She didn't seem very interested in it so we just went! Sooooorrrryyy Kristin! NEXT YEAR FOR SURE! Lets get Jason Mutton Bustin' too eh? You think he'd like that? Well anyways at the Rodeo Matt ate 5 cups of Strawberries and Cream and 2 cheeseburgers. Lets say that didn't sit as well as he'd liked and about half way through the bull riding he told me it was time to go... I didn't understand but he told me later he had to find a bathroom ASAP. We finally found one up the street and Matt said that it was a REALLY REALLY close call for him. (If you want to hear the whole story ask him its hilarious)
We met Michaela and her mom that night. Sorry about having no pictures... kinda silly I didn't take a single one! She is a nice girl, Matt and I like her. She has long blond hair and blue eyes, she is 5'2 and a half, she is tiny but has an athletic build to her...(anybody seeing any similarities?) HAHA you guessed it... I don't know if Jordan could have found someone that looked anymore like me! Matt kept almost putting his arm around her all weekend because he would see a short blond girl out of the corner of his eye and assume it was me. She is exactly the same size as me luckily because she needed to borrow a skirt for church on Sunday. Kind of crazy! We even have the same face shape and have about the same sounding voice. I figure when we go down to AZ in July we can confuse the crud out of the Rochelle side of the family by switching places all the time... the weirdest thing of it all is when she was little her mom started calling her Mickie but it never stuck, that would have been reeeally weird.
Saturday we had a make up softball game that was fun to play in... it was really hot though AND the other team didn't have enough players so they forfeit. Then Matt and I met up with Jordan Michaela and Joni to do the wedding stuff. Us girls went and looked at wedding dresses ( all of which looked GORGEOUS on her) while Jordan and Matt went to look for suits. We ended up at Macy's where the couple wanted to register so Matt and I went home and hit the pool for an hour. Let me just say Jordan was a tooper! Michaela had him at Target Registering for about 4 hours then to have him at Macy's registering for another 3? Matt would have called it quits after 1 hour at both places!Anyways I made dinner, we all ate then we went over to Boondocks to play putt putt or Mini golf whatever you want to call it.
Sunday we had biscuits and gravy for breakfast and went to church at 1. Weird thing is when we got in there we could smell that the gym floor had been re-done then the bishop announced that since we weren't allowed in there we would only have Sacrament meeting and that's it... HIP HIP HOORAY!! I mean wait... should I be sad about that? Well we went home and I made Banana Bread again while we watched Michaela and I's ( another weird coincidence) favorite movie Pride and Prejudice. They left at around 4 and we went down to Will and Kristin's for dinner. It was great fun and enjoyable but I don't feel ready for the week! Tonight Matt and I are going to go buy our Mountain Bikes... that should be exciting!

Camera and Side Aches

I called the camera guy and apparently there is a chip inside my camera that was pretty much broken. He said Nikon gets things to him fast so it should be done in a couple days! Yay! My guess is Tuesday, hopefully. If not next week would even be fine. I am excited for that. I miss my camera!

So it's STILL craft time at our house. I am now on the the painting stage, yet I ran out of red paint last night. Well actually Matt was painting the red I was painting the blue. So on our way home from work we need to get more red. Dang can't I just finish this project!

We have a softball game tonight hope we win its against the first place team! Also one of our games a few weeks back was rained out and they called Jerrod (co-captain) and told him the game was a 12 noon on Saturday. NOT MY SATURDAY! BOOOO so we'll see if we can go. Really it depends on Jordan, (Matt's little brother), and his fiance Michaela. They are coming down this weekend. Maybe they'll want to play because we'll be short players? Who knows but she wanted to go to some bridal show at the Gateway Mall. Oh and Suzanne I don't think we'll have a team in the fall sorry bud.

Matt's day at work was good. He likes the job (I think). He went through training and they told him that they had things planned for him until 1. Well he finished all his training they had planned for him by 10:30. I really don't know what he did all day he never told me. I'll get more details as the days go on.

Yesterday we went for a run then hit the pool to get some sun it was nice and relaxing. I've found with Matt in the summertime you have to plan for at least an hour and a half EVERYDAY after work for him to do what he wants before you try and get him to do something for you. Funny the things you learn about one another. I am sure that will change once we have kids and all, but for now he needs to get his work out in and if its hot go to the pool for about 45 minutes. The funny thing is when we get back he goes.... I"M STARVING!!!! WHATS FOR DINNNNERR!!! Well do you want me at the pool with you? or at home making dinner? you cant have both. And I cant make anything in 15 minutes that's worth calling dinner. SO he usually eats a yogurt or has a piece of fruit while I make dinner.... one day I'll figure out that mans stomach.

Oh and one last thing maybe someone can help me with this, living on a hill we do a lot of running up steep roads then running down steep roads. Every time I run downhill for a extended period of time I get the WORST side ache in history! I have never had this problem before. Any suggestions? I try breathing through my nose and alternating my footing and breathing, its not working out and its killing me!

Craft Time with Matt and Mickie

Today is Matt's first day at his new job, I'll have to report tomorrow how it goes.
So nothing really exciting happened yesterday, Matt got his car back and it still hiccups. I told him I thought it was just finishing cleaning itself up :) hope I am right. Matt wasn't to sure about it. We shall see in the next few days. We went to Home Depot to buy some wood to for a little project I am working on. Maybe when I am done I'll take a picture and post it. I am making frames to put above the cabinets in my kitchen. It was barren up there for so long that we went and bought some vines to put along the top they look great now if I could get my frames done. Matt is going to Home Depot again today during lunch to find a way to nail/glue the frames together. We haven't bought clamps yet, we need clamps. I have too many projects I want to do and I need clamps to do it! I tried to convince Matt that he wanted a really nice Midar Saw for his birthday instead of running shoes so he can help me with my projects. He said no he'd rather have running shoes. WHAT KIND OF MAN TURNS DOWN POWER TOOLS! Well considering it was a really pricey one that could have been it. Really I could have bought him 6 pairs of running shoes for the price of that saw HaHa. Christmas maybe? Yeah Christmas.

Oh and we went Grocery shopping last night too, like I told Kelly and my mother, all we had in our fridge yesterday morning was ...hmmm a half gallon of Milk, a Lemon, a hand full of cherries, and a jar of strawberry jam that is pretty much gone. Not much of a selection. I knew we really needed to go when we had Crackers and Cheese for dinner. That's a real problem! Ahhh the life of starving college students... no wonder Matt and I loose weight so easy we just don't go grocery shopping! HaHa just kidding. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!!! THE BIG 29 Yeash your getting old!

Cars and Softball? What? It was Monday!?

Yes Matts car will do some damage to the bank account... about $500. WOWZERS! He has to get a new valve, air vein?, and feul filter. I guess its all sorts of clogged up in there. Matt tried to change his feul filter a year ago and it was really hard to get to. Plus he has to get his tags renewed and that place does the safety and emissions testing so we said do that too while its there. His brake light on the inside of his car on the dash board is always on too so they are going to fix that too. Hopefully it will help Matts car go another year or two. We dont want to buy a new car anytime soon.

Also, one of my Co-Workers Jared needed another girl to play softball with him last night and he asked me. So I called Kristin and when Jason, Will, and Kristin, came to Frolf with us at Creekside park she brought me work out clothes... kind of as work out as Kristin gets. They worked great though. I played horrible softball and I dont even want to post the picture Kristin took because I look awful but I will anyways because I guess she posted one of me striking out! I was so nervous that I struck out! I haven't done that this season at all! Usually I can connect and make it to first I didn't even do that yesterday. They play in a way more competative league than we do as well. It was still fun though, I played second again and caught a pop fly and tagged my base for two outs so I didn't feild too terribly. Matt played with Jason on the playground while I played.

Frolfing was good too, I personally don't like Creekside much too many people and too many people smoking, lots of smoke, at least its outside right! Anyways it was a good evening and I even made Matt cut his hair before we went to bed. Today is his last day down in the mail room meaning its his last day with his cell phone so after tomorrow his cell phone is no more! I enjoyed it while we had it... ohh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY SPENCE!!! YAY!! Hope your day is wonderful!

Busy Busy Weekend!

Friday after work Matt and I spent quite a bit of time washing and vacuuming out our cars. We then went over to Checker Auto to buy oil, air filters, oil filters, fuel filters, and so on to change out on Saturday morning. We went and rented a movie from RED BOX, (our favorite). We rented "The Queen", the movie was kind of interesting but mostly boring, I had no idea the Queen of England hated Princess Diana, although I am interested to watch the special on tonight interviewing Prince William and Prince Harry.

Saturday morning Matt worked on the cars while I cleaned my little guts out. Our house was in serious need of some attention, I mopped and swept and vacuumed and did laundry and scrubbed and cleaned and wiped the doors and light switches and cleaned the bathroom and organized and.... UHH it took all morning! Unfortunately after Matt got done changing his oil and everything else his car would start but then die right away... we knew it was coming his car had been acting up the last few days we just thought it needed a little TLC, turns out it needs attention we can't give it. He was annoyed of course so we called the shop and it wasn't open on Saturday so we decided we would just tow it down on Sunday. He changed my oil and filters though and my car is working great! We went for a run when we got everything done around 1:30, it was so hot and windy and we ran to the normal place then walked another mile to Smiths to return the DVD to the RED BOX. That was a bad idea I was MISERABLE! It was hot and I was thirsty and I couldn't open my eyes it was so windy and during all the cleaning I didn't eat so i was hungry. Let's say it was a hard run! We got home and were so sweaty and sticky that a shower didn't sound good so we hit to pool for about an hour. It was really nice then we ate and showered and headed down to Will and Kristin's to drop off her camera. We were only there for a little while and poor Jason's face when we were leaving, he was pretty upset. I cant get that little face out of my head... We ended up still going to the Temple Pageant even though Kristin and Will thought it would be too late for Jason. I enjoyed the drive down and sitting under the stars looking at the temple. Even though the play is a little hoaky I still liked it. Matt thought it was boring and kept laughing when it wasn't supposed to be funny, oh well.

Sunday we slept in because we got back form Manti at about 1:30 in the morning. I made Matt pancakes for breakfast and watched one of my favorite movies "The Polar Express" Matt even picked it out! He is so good at picking movies on Sunday that I like to watch. We went to church and it was great our kids were good and we had a good time! Matt forgot about the lesson though until about 5 minutes from the end of Sacrament Meeting but he did a good job in spite of not knowing the lesson. We got home from church and I made dinner and we called our Dad's and Ironed and we towed Matt's car to the shop. We were just going to use this big rope but these guys who live by us were driving by and offered us a tow strap, which was very nice of them, so we used it. I don't like towing cars it's hard not to be jerky at it! Luckily we have my Jeep that can do things like that. We'll see what the damage is later today on how much it will be to fix. Wish us luck that it is something easy as pie to fix... Cars! Hope all those fathers had a lovely day yesterday!

It's Softball time!!

Hello to all! Welcome to softball story time... Well bases were loaded the score was 4 to 4 there were two outs and it was the last inning. I get up to bat and let the first one go. STRIKE yells the umpire... BOOOOO yells my bench (the call was sketchy) then the next one comes in clearly inside so I let it go. BALL!! yells the ump. Here comes the next floater coming in perfect I swing as hard as I can, feeling the ball hit the sweet spot of the bat, and KAPOW OUT OF THE PARK!!!! YEAHHHHHH oh yeah my first homer!!!!

Okay you know I was just kidding but it was a good story though right? I had you all going there. We did win though the score was 13-5 and I played 2nd as usual. Last time we played this team a few of our players were missing and they beat us 16-8 WOWZERS that's a beating so we knew we had to go out there and show off what were made of. When we have all of our players we play really well. Good times with Meridian Softball. Today is supposed to be a hot day about 95 degrees! So Matt and I are hoping to clean out our cars after work, wash them, vacuum them out... Make them all pretty, lets call it our Car Summer Clean up! Wish us luck it will be hot, tomorrow even hotter. We are still planning on going to Manti... Any takers? Lets do it!

New DVD Player

So our DVD player went KAPUT for sure yesterday. It just plain won't work at all! So Can'o'air didn't work as well as we'd all hoped... We rented "Breach" from Red box and we haven't watched it yet. Last night we went and bought a new DVD player. Not a really expensive one but it will do. Hopefully it lasts us longer than the other one did, we only had that one a year (it was a wedding gift). I took a picture of it all set up but once again I am scared to load it on to Cindy's computer for fear of crashing all of Outlook at my office. By the way all you people who think I should have been fired... it was only down for a few minutes not like the whole day or anything... Props to Meridian Title they are very good to their employees umm I mean understanding! Maybe tonight after the Softball game I'll take all the pictures of everything I have taken and post them. All right so the plan for Saturday is the "Mormon Miracle Pageant" aka the Manti Temple Pageant. Anybody game? I know a lot of people are out of town but if you wanna go let Kristin or I know and we'll all Carpool. ALSO next weekend is OFCOURSE Strawberry Days Rodeo in Pleasant Grove so if y'all want to go to that let us know as well. Will won't be going but Kristin Jason Matt and I will be going! Matt LOOOOVVVVVEEEESSS the Strawberries and Cream he ate I think 5 or 6 last year and he said this year he's going to eat 10. They are good but I only eat 1 maybe 2 you know how many fat grams and calories are in pure cream? But its very good none the less... Less us know if anyone wants to join in on our summer activities! Love to all pictures coming soon...

No pictures today...

So yesterday when I loaded all the pictures from the concert I had them on Cindy's computer and she e~mailed them to me so I could post them. Well you remember me talking about that really AWESOME video I took? Well apparently the video is HUMONGOUS! So when Cindy e~mailed it to me it made her computer really slow and it made mine really really slow. So I tried to e~mail it to my hotmail account so I could delete it off my computer here at work. I guess all the e~mailing of the humongo video made our whole office's Outlook crash. Not only our main office here but our Sandy office our Utah County office and our St. George office... so needless to say I'll have to get my Faith pictures from my computer at home so I don't cause some sort of Salt Lake City black out with my tiny video clips.

P.S. OF COURSE you are family Melissa! There you are now your own link from my page to yours... a connection of Spence family love ;)

Tim McGraw

So I'll post my Tim pictures today then Faith pictures tomorrow. Here are a few pictures and an AMAZING video. Wait no for some reason it wont let me load the video its more than 100 megs. Does anyone know how to make it smaller so I can post it? DANG well these are all during his portion of the performance.
It was hot in there for sure!
This was on the Jumbotron.

We decided the people that had front row just plain didn't do it right you gotta pay attention to the guitarists and drummers that's when you get the guitar picks and drum sticks they throw you! Faith said that Tim and her were talking before the concert with their bands and they said that they loved SLC so much last year they knew they had to come again. Matt and I decided it was all because of us we were front row crazies for sure!

So Kristin's camera has a weird flash... that's why my eyes are so bugged out it would flash then flash bright while taking the picture... weird. But none the less we were thankful for them letting us use their camera!

There's good ole Tim playing his guitar...

Oh and before the concert Matt and I went out to dinner with Whitney, her sister in law Marin, Misty and JARED (he wanted me to put his name in the blog so I capitilized it just for you Jared!) We went to the Olive Garden for dinner ofcourse! The food and company were excellent!

They're coming

Okay so I can't load the pictures on my computer so I did it on Cindy's computer. I'll post from her computer when she needs to do a closing. I promise they will be there, check back later today I have some AMAZING video... I love Tim and Faith... Tim McGraw is my all time favorite singer and I am so glad I got to go again this year. Matt and I snuck down to lower bowl, there were about 12 seats blocked off because a ladder was hanging down in front of them so we didn't think anyone had the tickets. We could see just fine and we figured they would kick us out if we weren't aloud there. We ended up sitting there the whole night and my co-worker Tori ended up winning Lower Bowl tickets from KBULL 93 outside so we weren't sitting next to them anyways. But CHECK BACK SOON I'll have pictures up! OHH and something Matt and I also learned, if you want to go to a concert then just show up usually radio stations will just give tickets to you if you don't have any at least that's what I have seen every time I have gone to a concert at the Energy Solutions Arena... CHECK BACK LATER.....

Solitude Disc Golf

Matt says he LOVES Solitude! It was so BEAUTIFUL up there! The weather was awesome and I love to breathe that mountain air! It reminded me of Oregon... I wish I could have gone mountain biking or taken a hike while we were up there too but with what time I did have up there it was great! The course was insane and for more pictures look at Kristin's Blog. She took some of mine, although we did have to share a camera. My camera will take 4-6 weeks to fix.... WHAT 4-6 weeks! That's FOR E VER! So hopefully it's a quick easy inexpensive fix and I'll get it back sooner than later. Kristin and Will are going to drop it off for me today. I will be TICKED if it's not done by the time we go to Arizona in July. DANG I MISS MY CAMERA!!! Sniff sniff... Anyways so here are a few pictures from our frolfing Saturday. Matt and Jason like to play and in these pictures Jason wanted to touch the water so I took him down there to touch it Matt said ohh that's not how you do it here take the camera let me show you.. and Jason had a REALLY tight grip on Matt's wrist. None the less there is nothing but faith from Jason that Matt won't drop him. All weekend I kept thinking ohh man this kid is going to be some sort of stunt double when he grows up Matt has warped the poor child! Good thing Kristin and Will don't mind! Oh and another thing is when Matt is laying on the ground Jason takes it as a open invitation to run and get on top of him. I think its cute! They wrestle around so much that i won't be surprised when Jason gets in trouble at Nursery for pile driving another kid. Although with other people/kids he seems to be quite gentle. Just with Matt he lets loose. Anyways so there are some pictures and tonight Kristin let me borrow her camera for TIM AND FAITH!!! YES Matt and I are so excited!

RRR SSS LLL

Real Salt Lake... Yes they are not a great team but.... dun duh duh DUHHH they won last night! Yay! They played the China National team. (In celebration I am wearing my Chinese shirt to work today) Matt and I got tickets yesterday morning from a co-worker who couldn't make it. I have to say the team really isn't great there are A LOT of bad passes, their trapping needs some serious help, and their center-mid needs better ball control. One of the only reasons Matt will go with me to the game is because of this guy right here, Freddy Adu. He is AMAZING. The second he got into the game yesterday the game shifted from humdrum to way awesome! You could tell the players had so much faith in him, the right defender would cross the ball but boot it all the way up to Freddy who played left forward last night. The great thing is he would actually trap the ball and control it. It seemed like any other player would just head it to someone else (hopefully) or would loose control. Soccer is one hard sport, every time I watch a game i get the... i wanna play soccer again bug. It is really hard to get a good group of people together to play soccer... PLUS I am way to competitive to be understanding when someone isn't good on a team I am on. Anyways they ended up winning! In the 3 years I have been going to games that is the FIRST time I have seen them win, how great! Go Real!!!

Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill

I WON TICKETS!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! One of my co-workers got through acted like she was me and I helped her with the song and WE WON!!! YAY So now Matt and I get to go to Tim and Faith again this year! I am so excited about it!!!

P.S. These are pictures Matt and I took last year at the concert from our front row seats. Awesome huh. Oh and Suzanne took the one that was from far out...

Movie Night

Last night after work I straightened the house, paid the bills, did the dishes, and started some laundry. We then went for work out for about an hour. After that we got home and it was about 7:45 p.m. prime time for starting The Pelican Brief! Matt and I love that movie for some reason. The funny thing about it is the DVD we bought is so Ghetto that you have to flip the disk over mid-movie. So we take that as our intermission. I flipped the disk and got up to start making apple cinnamon muffins, but I must have put the disk in poorly and the DVD player wouldn't shut so I fixed it and pushed the disk in. Well I guess that wasn't a good idea because our DVD player wouldn't work after that! I don't honestly think it was me that broke it. (well of course it was who else touched it?) Anyways so Matt started to get annoyed with the DVD player. I suggested taking it apart to see if there were any pieces broken that we could see... not like we knew what we were looking for. Anyways we took it all apart and got our can of air out sprayed the whole thing messed around with the little pieces for a while and we tried the DVD again and it worked! Hip Hip Hooray for Matt and I's DVD player fixing skills! Hopefully it keeps working, I guess if it doesn't work again then we know how to fix it... can of air... anyways so we didn't even end up finishing the movie because it is so long BUT we will finish it tonight before our Softball game. Geez if we have one its been really rainy these last few days stretching to reach 60 degrees when last weekend was 90 degree weather is so weird around here! OHHHH and this is a major achievement for me I did something else last night while Braden was on the phone with Matt... I PICKED OUT OUR WEDDING PICTURES!!!! AHHHH HAHAHA we have been married for over a year and I just got around to it... Maxwell House we'll be dropping by this weekend to leave you our pictures haha. I am such a slacker... sorry everyone.

Go Matt Go!

Well the good news of the day is... Matt got a new job at URS! Yay! I don't think he even applied for it. They came to him and said "You have a really good reputation around here and we really want you for this position opening up, will you have an interview with us?" At first, Matt wasn't very excited about it because he thought it was for the PEHP side which is really really strict with their employees. BUT it was for the URS side, luckily. He went into the interview thinking I don't even want this job it's a bad one, then coming out of it going "ohhh man I hope I get the job!" Anyways they came down to him about 4 hours later and said "You got the job." How's That! Well the job will give him a pay raise which we are excited about. The funny thing is he just went through his year evaluation yesterday and his boss and bosses boss reviewed him. They said we know you interviewed for a different position in the company, what if we said we'll match or come close to what they are going to pay you so you stay with us... Matt talked with me about it and we both decided yes we like the old job the flexibility, getting done around 3:30 everyday, the cell phone, but he really needs the experience of the new job. It just plain will look better on a resume then "operations technician/ mail room guy" which is what he is doing now. ALSO, he will start work at 8 every morning so that means I'll be to my job every morning only 40 minutes early everyday instead of an hour and a half! I start at 8:30 Isn't that great? I am excited to wake up at about 6:50 every morning rather than 5:50. I am tired of that for sure! He will put his two weeks in for his old job today and start his new one the last week of June. He also gets to wear a tie. He was annoyed that he couldn't wear a tie down in the mail room, they told him to stop wearing them. In the interview they asked him if he had a problem with wearing ties and he answered "I see a problem not wearing a tie." (He is so different then he was about 5 years ago..I've done a good job huh j/k) Anyways so Congrats to Matt! One step closer to taking over the company by age 30 right? Only umm 6 years to go! Oh DUH his new job is being a Customer Service Rep. Customers come in and he helps them decide where to invest their retirement money. That is right up Matt's alley considering both of us all ready have 401k's and a 457k. A 23 year old thinking about retirement who whoulda thought huh?

~Thoroughly Modern Millie~

Last Night Matt and I went to go see Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Hale Center Theatre. The show started at 7:30 p.m. so I was thinking it would be done around 9 p.m. Well that's when the INTERMISSION was! Dang it was a long play! We got home around 11 p.m.. No big deal just kind of late for us. (We're an old couple we like to be in bed by 10:30 or so actually, Matt likes to be in bed that early or he is a Grumpy Gus! Sorry H.D.!) Any how the play was great! I loved Millie in the play, I guess the reason why is because a couple months ago my cousin Kelly C. told me she was playing Millie but at the Scera in Orem. I never made it to see her but the whole time I could just imagine how good she was at that role. The gal that played Millie at the Hale was just like a grown up version of Kelly! It was great! Although the first half was pretty long, wasn't very funny, and kind of moved slow. But the play needed the first half to set up perfectly for the second half. I could tell after the intermission Matt was thirsty for some laughs. I know what your thinking and Yes! The second half more than made up for the first half with it's comedy, songs, dancing, and the ending was great perfect twist even I didn't see coming. (usually I can peg a movies ending really well) I would give it two thumbs up! Matt and I love new experiences and that was a good one! Well work is slow today, (welcome to the beginning of the month in the Title business, no one wants a home loan at the beginning of the month because they have to pay interest for the whole month plus the next one!) Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRAVIS BRIGGS!! THE BIG 19 Get those papers in Brother! Love to all!

P.S. I STILL haven't won Tim and Faith Tickets! I have been calling religiously for about a week and a half now. My Co-worker just walked in while I was calling and she said is it going? She started calling got in and WON!!! I helped her though, it was Indian Outlaw, She SANG it even... Ohh to win those tickets...

Weekend Fun!!

Friday after work I left a little early to join my cousin Conner and Matt at the pool. It was nice and warm and I love to swim! It was great! We then went to eat at a new little Italian restaurant down the road from us called Mark Anthony's with Conner and Aunt Sharon. It was pretty good, reasonable prices, good portions in my opinion. The next thing Matt and I are pretty embarrassed about we went to Redbox to rent a DVD and the ONLY thing was yes you guessed it "Stomp the Yard" Sooooo we watched it. What a predicable movie! Matt says he has been way to out of it because the style of dancing in that movie was really really weird. It had a bit of old school but mostly just weird jerking and convulsing like they were having a seizure or something... ha ha It was a movie I think I would have really enjoyed about 6 years ago? yeah maybe then but now it wasn't that enjoyable.

Saturday we woke up and got alllll the stuff done we've been putting off. Matt and I finished painting, sanding, and gluing, my lady bug, bee, and sunflower yard stakes to put in my yard, got a good work out in, laundry, cleaned the house, etc.. Then we went to go watch Conner play baseball (Uncle Jason was out of town and Sharon had to take Kenzie to dance) So Kristin, Will, Jason, Matt and I watched. He was great! They are undefeated and it was a close call, tied for a while, but the score ended up being 10-4 I think. Pretty good. Then we went over to Taylorsville to Frisbee golf. Matt and Will played all right the funny part was the fact that someone stole a basket. I am not sure what whole # it was but they sawed it clean off. WHO DOES THAT? I thought it was lame. Anyways but Jason had his first bout with Allergies it was GREAT! Poor kid oh i forgot to say earlier at the Baseball Fields he has been stepping off curbs like a "big boy" and got a little daring. He stepped off a curb by the car and on his way down hit his head on the car AND the cement. So when we were frolfing his bruise and goose egg looked GREAT on top of his blood red big almost swollen shut eyes and a constant runny nose poor kid looked like he had been through a beating! We went home ate a little then went over to the Herriman Splash park. Matt, Jason, and Will, played for a while then they had to go to Provo to eat dinner with Will's Uncle. We left for Alpine/Highland to go have a BBQ at my Uncle Art and Aunt Mickeys house. My Grandparents from Guatemala/Peru came up for a surprise visit and wanted to be with family. Matt and I are always happy to oblige when food and family are involved. We also haven't seen Mickey and Art for a while so it was a good visit! We were supposed to leave early and go to a Drive in movie with my Co-workers but Matt wanted to stay longer at my families house ( probably to play with the kids longer) and we didn't end up making it all the way to the Drive -in we ended up renting Superman Returns. Not a bad movie at all. I fell asleep early (we had one full day!) but I finished it on Sunday.

Sunday we had a lovely morning studying and sleeping. Got ready for church and Matt taught Sunday School about the Good Samaritan. He had a wonderful lesson! Once we got into Primary though our two trouble making boys were seriously out of line, not paying attention at all, being blatantly disrespectful and such. Matt and I run a tight ship in Primary. We like to emphasize that they need to be better then the other kids to be an example. Well they were being brats so I went over to sit by them. I sat with them for about 30 minutes and they STILL were misbehaving, no matter what I did (separate them, remind them they are almost 12 years old and they can behave) they didn't care, they still talked, joked around, and poked each other. So I went and sat next to Matt to "test" them and see if they would shape up. It got WORSE so Matt said that's it I am not a babysitter. He kept his composure quite nicely and pulled one kid out. That kid wouldn't come, he just sat there and Matt said come here and the kid finally sauntered out into the hallway. Matt said are your parents here today? The kid said yeah why Matt said where are they he said no don't take me to my parents I cant go I'll be in so much trouble! Matt said we gave you PLENTY of chances. Mickie even sat next to you and you still couldn't keep you hands to yourself. He said no it was the other kid's fault he was poking me and stuff. Matt said fine let me get him. Then he pulled the other one out and said are your parents here? He said yes. WAIT DON'T TAKE ME TO MY PARENTS! I'll be good promise i promise! Matt said you had your chance guys. I am not a babysitter and i like sitting next to my wife at church and you had her sitting next to you two, Lets go. They complained and complained one of them even said If you take me to my dad he'll whip me with his belt Brother Spence you don't know what its like to be whipped by your dad, it hurts so bad! Matt smirked and said that's questionable, but its not my problem you had your chance. Finally he said look, One of you have got to go to your parents decide who was worse and I'll walk you in there until then I'm waiting. It was great, both boys didn't want to say anything. So they sat there for a while and then Matt said I'm going back to primary you guys decide what to do. Then about 3 minutes later they were back in their seats white as sheets, dead silent. I don't think either went to their parents but I think they now know Matt means business when he says settle down. ANYWAYS so after church Matt let me watch my favorite movie "Pride and Prejudice" while I made Chicken Fajitas for dinner. We went for a walk then I called Britany because it was her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRITANY BRAGG! The big 21 Yee HAW!!!! Haha. Last night trying to sleep was AWFUL though. My allergies have taken me over I feel like I have had a cold for about a month now and I am sick of it. I keep telling Matt I am going to go to the Doctors and get a prescription Matt just says our bodies are tough we'll fight it off. I don't think allergies are something you "fight off" So I have tried everything that you don't have to get over the counter and now I am going to go tonight at get the strongest over the counter extra extra strength stuff they can give me! I hope it will help I woke up probably 10 times to blow my nose! After i fell asleep around 4:45 (help I am turning into my mother!) It was horrible. Now I am tired and I must get back to work. I brought my special Puffs plus with Aloe and Lotion today to work because my nose is so raw these days... sniff sniff. Thanks for reading the Blog, it's a long one I congratulate you if you got all the way through Matt and I's wonderful weekend! Love to all!

Lets all be winners not losers...

So last night we were short our best girl right? Well then our Short Stop (who is dang good) called and said something was going on with his son so he couldn't make it. BUMMER so needless to say we were short 4 people who are normally there and quite talented. Let's say my guess at the score was 16 to 4 maybe? We played horrible! We just couldn't figure out the right positions for people. Oh well such is life we still had fun the other team was really nice probably because they were beating the snot out of us. Oh and Matt had a close call at second and had to slide. He made it in enough time but that was his first slide ever! He got a nice little cut on his knee. It was a good slide so he must have practiced on his slip'n'slide when he was a kid.
So here's the crazy lady story. I was hopping out of the shower while Matt was getting into bed and I hear this whiny voice so I asked Matt if a little kid was crying outside he said "no, no little kid is crying." So I thought maybe I made it all up in my head. Then Matt said "Mick get over here." I looked out the window to find 2 Sheriff cop cars, a Fire Truck, and an Ambulance parked in front of our house. Matt said the voice I heard was that a of a grown middle aged woman who was saying something like, "Let me talk to Vanessa! Don't you know I'm leaving this earth? Let me talk to her!" Matt said the lady was standing in the living room saying this with the door open talking to a man standing on the front porch of his house on the phone. Our guess is that she overdosed on something and knew it, so the guy was calling the Cops to have her stomach pumped. It was so crazy and the lady was creepy looking for sure. We have heard the couple arguing quite a few times but nothing ever that crazy! When the lady finally left on the gurney she was all sorts of strapped down with TONS of straps and she looked so trashed and glazed over. I thought about leaving cookies on the door step or something the next day then I realized that I cant make good cookies if my life depended on it. In fact they would have thought they were poisoned or something that's how bad of a baker I am. So that probably wasn't a good idea. I will have to work on my baking skills later as for now I think I'll just pray for our next store neighbors.
So lately I have been examining my life and different situations trying to figure out why certain people react to things certain ways and I have come to a conclusion, I want to be a winner not a loser. It doesn't matter what other people do I won't let their decision affect me and how I take care of things. So I have this little paper up next to my desk to remind myself of things. I'll post it here to so you guys can agree with me : )

How to tell a winner

A winner says, “Let’s find out”; A loser says, “Nobody knows”.

When a winner makes a mistake he says, “I was wrong”; when a loser makes a mistake, he says, “It wasn’t my fault”.

A winner credits his “Good Luck” for winning—Even though it wasn’t good luck. A loser blames his “Bad Luck” for losing—Even though it wasn’t bad luck.

A winner knows how and when to say “Yes” and “No”; a loser says, “Yes, but” and “Perhaps not” at the wrong times, for the wrong reasons.

A winner works harder than a loser, and has more time; a loser is always “Too Busy” to do what is necessary.

A winner goes through a problem; a loser goes around it, and never gets past it.

A winner makes commitments; a loser makes promises.

A winner shows he is sorry by making up for it; a loser says, “I’m Sorry”, but does the same thing again next time.

A winner knows what to fight for and what to compromise on; A loser compromises on what he shouldn’t, and fights for what isn’t worth fighting about.

A winner says, “I’m good, but not as good as I ought to be”; A loser says, “I’m not as bad as a lot of other people”.

A winner listens; A loser just waits until it’s his turn to talk.

A winner would rather be respected than liked, although he would prefer both; A loser would rather be liked than respected, and is even willing to pay the price of mild contempt for it.

A winner feels strong enough to be gentle; A loser is never gentle—he is weak or tyrannous by turns.

A winner respects those who are superior to him, and tries to learn something from them; a loser resents those who are superior to him and tries to find chinks in their armor.

A winner explains, a loser explains away.

A winner feels responsible for more than just his job; a loser says, “I only work here”

A winner says, “There ought to be a better way to do it”; A loser says, “That’s the way it’s always been done here.”

A winner paces himself; a loser has only two speeds: Hysterical and Lethargic.

So there ya go lets all be winners and make the world a better place huh? Happy Friday to all and lets hope I win Tim and Faith tickets today!? I was caller 5 and 10 and 1 and 2 allready 13 has got to come around soon!
