A new project

Rubbadubdub three kids in the tub. I think this was the last time Ty wanted to take a bath with his sisters. They don't give him enough room so now he waits until they are done and hops in. Emma and Maylee are good bath buddies though.

Emma likes to wait for Matt to come home from work for lunch or for the day. She loves to look out the window and she says "hello daddy" the whole time, until Matt walks in the door then she rus up to him yelling "Mom!" Haha

Two weekends ago we went to Home Depot and bought a bunch of wood for a console table plan that I found on Ana White's website. Matt is such a trooper, when he had Monday off he did most of the putting together.

He worked on it all day.

Here it is, still drying a bit and needing some good sanding and wood filler.

The kids were so happy to be able to finally come outside to see what Dad was doing. Before we wouldn't let them out because kids riding bikes around power tools can't work out well... Matt says that my Dad's test for a project is to sit on it. So everyone sat on it and it held up well.

Matt put on the wood filler and started sanding a few nights ago, his goal is to finish the sanding and staining this weekend. Hopefully it will be in the house soon. I can't wait, I love it when the things I pin on Pinterest actually happen. Matt is the best.

Dear Emma,

My Dearest Emma bug,

I love your guts, I do, I really do. You are a spunky, opinionated little toddler who doesn't take no for an answer. You must have a mental list of all the things you have been told not to do and have a memo next to each line item saying "i'll get back to that later." You are the busiest 1 year old I have ever had. It's hard not to compare children, I know It's not something I am supposed to do, but Ty and Maylee could be told no a few times, "Ty, don't touch the blinds please, we don't want them to brake" "Maylee don't eat the potting soil from the plant, it's yuck." and I rarely had to re-visit the situation. With you, I think when I tell you not to do something and attempt to explain why, it just fuels your fire and drive to continue your pursuance of such naughty actions. It is equally adorable and infuriating.

You are a beautiful little lady, you have your own look and look just like a mix of your sister and brother all the same. You have such edible features that I rarely go 5 minutes with out a BIG smootch on your squishy cheeks, hands or feet... even though I just scolded you for ripping up the instructions to your brothers lego set. I feel like your personality is similar to how I've been told I was as a child. Hopefully God continues to bless me with energy because boy oh boy are you an energy sucking midget.
The other day, while I was in the shower you climbed on the kitchen table (which I swear you know you aren't supposed to do) and helped yourself to a jar of homemade Strawberry Jam. You double fisted to your hearts content then made your way up stairs, covered in jam head to toe, to show me how excited you were about your culinary exploits. Brother and Sister didn't notice until you were nearly half way up the stairs. That is when the sirens went off, "EMMA EMERGENCY! EMMA EMERGENCY!". Your Dad quickly started cleaning up on the stairs while your brother and sister started wiping up the kitchen. You hopped in the shower for a good long rinse off. Arg, every day is different, but the same big mess at the end of the day. Your Dad jokingly suggested I rig a rake to your backside somehow so you could clean up the wake of destruction that you leave every day.
Speaking of your Brother and Sister, they love you too. They want you to make good choices too. They aren't trying to pick on you, promise. I know a lot of times we say no. All you may think you hear is no. Truth is, there are a lot of things to NOT touch or climb on. Eventually you'll find more joy in playing with your toys and not playing with the knives while I am loading or unloading the dishwasher. Being a 1 year old is tough, but I'll just say, being a MOM to a 1 year old seems more tough. It's no wonder your favorite word currently is "Nope!"

Your Dad has a special place in his heart for you, he loves how even after taking a hit you keep coming. He loves your persistence and ingenuity. He loves how you race to meet him at the door doing your best to beat your brother and sister so YOU get the first hug. But i'll tell you this, he's got a heart of stone when fit throwing occurs. You may have figured this one out all ready but I am definitely a push over compared to your Dad. When you come running to clutch my legs and wet my jeans with your tears I have a hard time not just excusing your poor behavior and hug it away only to watch to you do the same thing over again. You'll get it, life I mean, eventually you'll get it. My job is to help you get it. Problem I have with all this is I'm just beginning to get it myself. Forgive my shortness and my lack of patience with your 1 year old problem solving skills of screaming your head off when something goes wrong.

Bottom line is, I will always give you lots of hugs and kisses. I love you forever even if you are a high spirited crazy toddler that is giving me a run for my money. I think that is probably what my parents thought about me, and hey... look how I turned out. :)

My favorite part of the day with you, is when I come to get you in the morning and you greet me with a "Hello Mom!" and a big slobbery open mouth with tongue kiss on the cheek when I pick you up out of your crib. It is the best and I know it wont last forever. So keep on being you and i'll try my best to keep up.

XOXO,
Mom

Latest and Greatest

Maylee has been choosing her own outfits lately. She adores the new vans she got for Christmas. She also has a pair of mint green ones. She is really in to shoes ( I think grandma Kay is rubbing off her) she has a ton to choose from so it's always interesting to see which ones she wants to wear that day.
On New Years day we finally sold the punching bag and stand we had in our garage to make room for a treadmill. We were going to buy a new one and were looking everywhere for a good deal. Problem is, Matt needs a pretty high end one since he runs so hard for so long. I posted on FB asking what kind of treadmill we should get and a friend, the kids dentist actually, text me and said we could buy his. He barely ever used it and had a gym membership so there wasn't any point in having it. He sold it to us for a really good deal and it's a pretty darn nice one. We have used it nearly everyday since we bought it! I'm already back up to 2 1/2 miles! It is SO nice to go for a run in the morning while the kids are eating breakfast. Matt likes it at night when it's too dark and cold for a run outside too.

Ever since Christmas, when Ty received superhero action figures from my parents he has been really interested in them. Randomly Batman was on, on Saturday morning. It was about half way through and I remember watching it all the time as a kid, so I let Ty watch it. After about 20 minutes I looked it up and sure enough, it's PG -13. ARG, he watched the last 45 minutes of the movie and I don't think he'll be watching it again until he is much older. I think the version I watched as a kid was taped off TV, because I didn't remember some of those things... It wasn't terrible, but not something a 4 year old should watch... Just like World War Z as christmas time...ha.

Matt invented his new favorite burger. It's ground sirloin, Colby jack cheese, mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomato, jalepenos, spicy sausage queso (hot sausage, cream cheese and rotel) and tortilla chips all put between a toasted bun. He ate 2 of those burgers and was sooo happy about it. I guess that's what I get for asking him what he wants for dinner. Too be honest I welcome his choices, i hate deciding what to make for dinner!

Emma has turned in to quite the little eater, okay she's always been a good eater, but she seriously eats every speck of food we give her. Then she finishes off the table. The evening I took this picture all we had left was veggies, which she ate the rest of. She talks so much now, she is getting really good at saying help, snack and drink. She says Thank you as well. We're still working on please. She says Hello all the time too. It's so nice when children start communicating more so one doesn't have to guess what they want all the time. She is a little climber too. If I'm not careful she makes it to her favorite spot, on top of the table, any second she can.

Last but not least, I have finally decided it is time to put up window coverings. When we put away our Christmas stuff the house seemed so bare! Joann fabric was having a really good sale, so I looked up a Pinterest tutorial on how to do it, I got some input from Suzanne and went shopping. Here is the first one that I finished. I really like them! The following night I had a meeting for church and came home and Matt did the other window too! I have the other 3 done, I just need Matt help hanging them up. Hopefully we'll get the rest up tonight!
