1 year check up and Immunizations

Maylee weighed 15 lbs 6.7 oz. 1st Percentile. She only gained 6 ounces from last appointment to this one. Doc was okay with it though since she started walking.

She is 27 inches long and in the 5th percentile.

She also finally got caught up on her immunizations... AND of course like Mother like Daughter she woke up yesterday like this.
You can't see them well but she had little red bumps everywhere. I took her into Urgent Care they said it was a mixture of a reaction to one of the immunizations and something else. They don't think she has any allergies because she is healthy otherwise, no ear infections, sore throat, outstanding high fever or other red flags. So they gave her Benedryl and told us to continue giving it to her as her condition persisted.

Well I got her up this morning looking like this.
Needless to say, she's been pretty grouchy. So here's to more Benedryl and a long weekend holding Miss Maylee. I SO know how it feels to break out like this and it's no fun.

Good thing its Conference weekend!

Promise next post will be about Ty, I think Maylee and I have monopolized things for too long.

27 Random things about me.

Happy Birthday to ME! Here are 27 things you may or may not have known about me.

1. I am a twin, Happy Birthday to the best Twinner in the world Suzanne! Love you Lady!

2. I am left handed, so is Suzanne, we are the only ones in our family. I have a sneaky suspicion that Suzanne should have been right handed since she does everything else with her right hand. I must have bullied her into being a lefty. Yeah I did that sort of thing.

3. Insects, Reptiles, Rodents... no big deal, i'm not scared of them at all.

4. I have a high enough IQ to be in the MENSA club, maybe this is why I always feel the need to correct everyone's spelling and grammar (Seriously... me right? Everyone laugh now)

5. I think the #1 reason Matt married me is because I get 99% of his jokes. Whether I laugh or roll my eyes is a different story.

6. I practiced and performed at a Belly Dancing Bazaar in High School... I still have the awesome costume my mom sewed for me to prove it.

7. I LOVE to read, Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book but i'll read just about any type of book.

8. I get goosebumps attending BYU sporting events and I actually have to fight back tears of joy at the beginning. (Am I my fathers daughter or what)

9. I am named after both of my lovely Grandmothers... Mickie is a nickname of my middle name.

10. My first kiss was Matt, on May 6th 2001 and we got married May 6th 2006, 5 years later. (Cue the "Awe so SWEET" reactions now)

11. I am a Belieber and actually consciously counted down the days until his new single "Boyfriend" came out.

12. When I was a kid I tried to limbo under barbed wire, you can guess how that turned out.

13. I am super scared of heights, deep water and whales

14. I am not a touchy, feely, huggy person, unless it's my husband or children. I have a bubble. If I do hug you however appreciate it, I really meant it.

15. People say I am a people person... I disagree. It takes quite a bit of effort on my part to be that way.

16. My favorite color is Pink. Blue is a close second.

17. I am pregnant again. (Big surprise... due 10/9/12 only 6 weeks behind Suzanne)

18. I don't sleep well if my bed wasn't made before I got in it. I have made Matt get out of bed before so I could make the bed and get back in.

19. I won't share my glass of milk with anyone but Matt. Something about sharing milk grosses me out.

20. I sing really loud in the shower and car and I don't care who's listening.

21. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE shopping. But I love new clothes. Thanks to my mom, husband and siblings for helping with the new clothes so I rarely have to go to stores.

22. I wear the same horseshoe necklace everyday, Matt gave it to me years ago.

23. I don't and haven't ever owned an apple product. One of these days i'll get an Iphone, Ipad, Ipod or MACBook. They are just so stinkin' expensive!

24. I wear a size 6 shoe.

25. My most favorite people on the planet are #1 Matt and #2 is a tie between Ty and Maylee. They are seriously the best.

26. I had to bust out a calculator to figure out how old I was turning this year.

27. I love to travel and have had the opportunity to visit many places, I think my favorite was Guatemala...minus the Shigella.

More Birthday pictures

Can you believe I didn't take a single picture at her birthday party? What a mom I am... I was worried about not burning my THIRD batch of Cinnamon Rolls instead. I didn't even get one of her in her special party dress either! Not to worry though when we go down to Medford, Kelly is going to take her one year photo's which will include her wearing said dress.

So here are some pictures of her opening some presents on her Birthday. Birthdays are really hard for the siblings... they want all the presents too.

New Hair bows, headbands and a skirt! Aunt Michaela is amazingly crafty and creative. All of it is so cute!
Ty of course helped open all the presents. Here is the baby doll we gave her.
I think she likes it!
She held it most of the night.
Ty pretty much confiscated it and now he plays with it more than she does, simply because it is May's.
She also got this CUTE outfit from some friends of ours. I was calling her over to eat her Birthday cupcake. I made Tres Leches Cupcakes with Dulce de Leche Buttercream frosting. They are a PAIN to make but so good. I only make them once a year. I honestly forgot to pull them out at Maylee's party (again probably distracted by the Cinnamon Roll situation) and so Matt and Ty got all the cupcakes they could eat. They were both in heaven!
Of course I let Maylee have her own. Ty and I sang to her and she jumped right in. Ty is a clean freak and doesn't like getting dirty so he kept worrying about what a mess Maylee was making.

Ty was licking the icing off her fingers. HAHA

She ended up eating quite a bit of the Cupcake. She loved it! Then she went right into the bath :)

Happy Birthday Maylee!

Miss Maylee is officially one today! Wow.

She is a precious little lady that LOVES her Daddy, Mommy and Ty. OH and pretty much anyone else that wants to hold her. She isn't cuddly, but she likes to be held. She is walking more and more and tries to keep up with her brother. She likes to play by herself sometimes, but most of the time she is crawling around looking for someone else to play with her. She has 8 teeth and is completely off Formula on to milk. Hallelujah for that saving money for Dad and Mom.

We'll open presents later tonight, one of which is her Party dress for tomorrow and a another one is a baby doll. We went and picked it up today. We didn't know what to get her so we would just randomly hold something up in front of her and see what got the biggest reaction. She grabbed that baby doll and started kissing the face right away. Winner Winner!

We love this lady and we are so pleased she joined our little family. Funny how I was worried about having a girl, she fits RIGHT in with our little gang.
I just thought I would add these pictures, they are walking in after the little photo shoot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAYLEE!

Walking-ish

Miss Maylee walks about 50 percent of the time now. She doesn't walk really long distances yet but she can walk across a room okay. I'll wager she'll be off to the races in a week or two. I love her face when she walks, she is so pleased with herself :)
The other day Maylee and Ty exercised with Matt. It was really funny.
AND OF COURSE a few of Ty. He is always good for a cheesy grin.

 Kid needs a haircut...

Oh the Thinks you can Think!

Ty thinks up a lot of funny things. He says a lot of funny things. I thought I would share a few so he could read how he spoke years from now.

Instead of saying "open your eyes!" he says "get your eyes out!"

When Matt (or anyone else for that matter) has a little bit of a furrowed brow or is focused and thinking he takes that as "Daddy (or whomever else) NOT happy!"

Nothing is little in his book, it's just baby size. "Mom look a baby airplane!" when it is really high in the sky and looks small.

Anytime he is wondering what someone is doing he says "Mom, What you Doing here?" I wish I could type the voice inflections that he uses.

He sings a lot of songs, they usually go "dun dun doo doo dun dun Mommy do do do May-ee, ddooo la la la Daddy la dun dun duh!" followed up with "Mommy singin' the song with Ty?"

When he thinks you have a bad attitude he says "Mom, why you being the grumpy gus!"

He counts like this "One, two, thee, four, three, four!" there are essentially three of everything.

Letters are not letters, they are T Y Ty's! Case in point driving in the car looking at store signs, if he spots any letters he know he says " MOM LOOK T Y Ty's!" He know the letters, T, Y, A, B, C and sometimes S. We're working on a letter every other week or so. Oh and any sports shirt with three letters is a BYU Cougars shirt. Even though it usually says WSU Cougars around here.

Whenever Maylee is wearing a dress he calls her a Princess. (Have no idea where he picked that up, seriously) and all the other days he calls her Maylee Girl. He loves to point out that Mommy and Maylee are Girls and Daddy and Ty Ty are Boys.

When he is nervous of something and wants to get away he'll yell  "GET THAT OUTTA HERE!" (Like the evil witch in Snow White with the apple he yells that at her every time.

Oatmeal is Oat-ta-meal, Applesauce is Apple-auce.

Oh and P.S. ask my Mom and Dad, the kid NEVER stops talking, NEVER! Even in his sleep I tell you, he is chatting away.

We're BaaaAAAcccKKK!

Anyway we are all back from the DEAD. First the kids got sick then they lovingly passed it on to Matt and I. So we were camping out on the couches in our sweats for a while there. Luckily (Matt's first time EVER) our nasty colds coincided NICELY with March Madness so there were some good games to watch while we waited for our heads to explode and put us out of our misery. Lucky too that my Mom snagged Ty all week so we could just be try to get well rather than taking care of him. What perfect timing!

Wednesday, before the cold set up camp in my sinuses I made THREE delectable pies for Pi Day. I made S'mores (SUPER RICH but if you are a chocolate lover this one is for you, plus it was really easy to make) Lemon Cream (Martha's Recipe, I LOVE Lemon so this was right up my alley. The cream balanced out the tartness of the lemon perfectly. I am not a big Meringue fan so the cream was a good substitute too)  and an Amish Apple Pie (Kristin's recipe, always a crowd-pleaser. I didn't have any but I heard it was fantastic.)

I had Matt bring them to work that day and only a few slices were eaten! WHAT? Usually the treats I make for his work are devoured! Turns out almost everyone is on a diet to be summer ready and were super tempted. I am pleased that they resisted. Matt doesn't need to be the co-worker that makes everyone pack on the pounds because his wife is constantly making treats.

I brought the rest of the pies to Young Women's Youth Group that night and told them all about our Pi Day celebration. It was fun and the girls gobbled up the pie pretty fast. I only had one slice of Apple and two slices of Lemon left. Turns out S'mores was the only one Matt wanted and I didn't save him a piece! Sorry Matt!

Okay so here are some random Pictures...
Drop ONE Chocolate chip on the floor and this is what your Sous Chef will look like...

Then she notices the camera,
Then she throws a wave and a cute smile hoping for more :)

While Ty was gone we missed him a ton! We are so glad he is back and it was nice to spend Saturday with my parents.
Yesterday after church was a PJ's kinda day... can you tell what movie we were watching?

Also this is what we see alot of around these parts, she is on the verge I tell you! It's weird once Ty decides to do something (like walking or crawling) he just does it and doesn't go back. Maylee just tries when she wants then wont for a while, then will, then wont... we'll see when she decides she wants to walk 100% of the time. I thought it would have been sooner than now.
This isn't a great video of her trying, she noticed the camera out too soon. I tried to be sneaky and it didn't work.
Then she just wanted to play for the camera.
In other news I can't believe the lady turns ONE on Saturday... I am mulling over plans in my head on what I want to do. It's tricky now that we don't have a ton of family around to invite over for Cake and Ice Cream on a moments notice.

TMT: Ty, taking care of business!

Saturday morning Matt woke up and decided it was the day... it was the day for Ty to learn to be a big boy and be potty trained. I had my doubts and so I pretty much left it up to Matt. Last time was still fresh in my mind and I wasn't ready for battle.

Saturday was okay. Matt and Ty stayed home all day (except for the 30 minutes to Papa Murphy's for some Pizza for Dinner) they watched whatever movies Ty wanted ate all the snacks and drinks they wanted while Ty tried to learn how to be a big boy.  He had a lot of accidents, but did make it to the potty once.

Sunday for church I told Matt that Ty needed a Pull-up on, so that he would be able to stay at church because no doubt he wouldn't even make it through the first hour. Matt said no that he needed to learn. I gave Matt the reins and of course Ty had an accident, a big, gross, smelly accident at church and Matt took him home after the first hour. I stayed all three hours but felt like I was walking dead due to little sleep the night before and Daylight savings time. Sunday afternoon and evening he started to pick it up a little better and had made it to the potty 2 times instead of just once.

Monday Matt had to work and I was DREADING potty training on my own. I geared up for battle and rolled out of bed. Ty woke me up to tell me to take his Pull-up off so he could have underwear on. I put on his underwear and seriously the kid had it down. No problems, no misses, no whining, no issues, just a regular potty trained kid. I couldn't believe it! He was totally fine going 1 and 2 in the potty ( I know probably TMI but some kids struggle with one or the other). No false alarms, every time he said he needed to go he went, and quite a bit. I would ask him if the Pee Pee was all gone and he would say "YES! :)"

I have come to learn something about my little Ty. Whatever all the books say to do, take it in stride, think of the opposite and that is what Ty will respond to best. Ty does NOT like it when you treat him like a little kid, well sort of. If you talk to him in a high cutesy voice he doesn't like it. He doesn't like a ton of verbal encouragement and reminders, he is like a teenager in that way. You make him think it's his idea and he'll do it. If YOU beg, plead, or try and force him... well as my Dad always says, "Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated" and boy does Ty know how to assimilate! All we ended up doing is buying a package of Blue Peep Bunny's for him and said "If you go in the potty you get a bunny, if not you don't get one." That was the end of it, no reminders, no more "You can do it!"s. Once all that stopped I would just say "Ty, Mommy needs to go potty, do you need to go?"    "No? okay..." then within a minute or so Ty says "Mommy, Ty Ty the Potty..." so I pull down his pants for him and leave the bathroom, he does his thing, washes his hands, then comes asking for a bunny.

Man I wish I would have known this 6 months ago, the less big of a deal you make it the easier it is for him to cooperate. I'll keep it in mind for future learning experiences. I learned so much about my little Ty guy. I prayed my guts out this weekend that he would get it this time and he did. WHEW!

P.S. Yesterday my mom e-mailed and said she was driving up to pick up Ty for the week. I reminded her that Ty was potty training and she said it was fine! He even wore big boy underwear the WHOLE DRIVE down to Medford in stop and go construction and a late arrival he didn't have one accident and was even able to go on command at a random McD's my mom stopped at for dinner. Seriously! What an awesome little Ty guy eh? Oh and what an awesome Mom... I don't even know what to do with myself with out Ty. One kid is so much different and easier than two :)

Next step for Ty? Getting rid of the pull up at night... I am sure he'll do fine... I just didn't want to be washing underwear AND sheets all weekend.

So bottom line is, we have a whole box of size 5 diapers ready and waiting for Maylee. But then Matt and I joked that we don't think May will ever fit size 5. She'll be potty trained before that size! We'll have to wait and see :)

March Meanderings

March has brought snow and sick, AND beautiful sunny days! What is that all about!

Last week we had a snow day. Ty went out and played by himself 3 different times. He would tromp around eat the snow and dig holes. I love how both my children can entertain themselves for long periods of time. He went down for a nap and the rain melted all the snow Ty was so upset and he went back out in the rain to play with the last of the snow until he was soaked to the bone.
A special favorite treat of Matt's is Rice Krispy treats. I think it's because his mom used to make them a lot. A little while ago I finally showed him how to make them, they aren't hard so now he makes them a ton. He has to have them super squished and in the fridge so they are chilled before he eats them.
The joy of helping is licking the spoon at the end.
Oh and getting marshmallows hucked at your face at alarming speeds.

Maylee girl has been one sad sight this last week...
She had a constant faucet of a nose, watery eyes and a nasty cough. I believe this was Monday.

Ty has shown quite the interest in birds lately, so for family home evening we learned about birds and a we talked about a few stories in the Bible where birds are mentioned. Ty colored a picture of birds, learned that Bird starts with B and we made bird nest Rice Krispy Treats with Jelly Beans as eggs and Peeps for our treat. We all loved the treat! (Thanks for the idea Aunt Chrissie!)

Beginning two days ago the weather has been fantastic! Oh, I must mention that as a mother I always want my children to share, but some things I just wish they didn't... that nasty cold being one of them. Tuesday night Ty started in on his cough, runny nose and watery eyes. May is almost all done, tomorrow she'll probably be 100% but Ty still has a few more days to go is my guess. ANYWAY, I wasn't getting anything done trying to care for sickos, so Wednesday we braved the stores. We went to Home Depot and Ty picked out some flowers for our front door flower pots. He picked out Prim Roses and Miniature Daffodils. I think he did a great job. When we were buying the flowers the clerk said "One moment I have something for you!" To Ty, I was confused but we waited, she came back with a CAR (like a pinewood derby car but with out the carving) for Ty to put together. Wow how cool!

Ty was really excited to put it together with his Dad.
Yep, Ty even got to nail a few things.

Adding the stickers.

I told Ty to say cheese, he wouldn't smile and only grunted. You can really see how sick he is in this one, snot all over his face haha. Matt was copying the face Ty had been doing all day.

Yesterday Ty and I went outside to enjoy more beautiful weather and plant our flowers.
Cute huh? They add a little color to the front of our house. I also did some weeding. The kids and I really enjoyed the sunshine, hopefully the fresh air is helping with Ty and Maylee's colds too. The windows open and feeling a little breeze in the house has been fantastic!

P.S. FYI even after Matt's 3 touchdowns AND Interception last night, the team didn't make it to the finals in his flag football league. Matt was really bummed about it but is excited for the mid-summer season when he wont have to brave the cold.

February Shenangins

Here are some pictures from February that I haven't shared yet...

Ty discovered a special ASTRONAUT costume that cousin James hand-me-downed to him... he was so excited to put it on when he found it.

He decided he was a Space Cowboy.

Like the hat change? He likes to wear various hats. Almost every night Matt flies Ty to bed and Ty turns off all the lights. He has a specific route he likes to fly in and he'll tell you if you are doing it wrong, video as evidence.
We went to Kohls the other day and saw this. I had never seen on before...
Maylee fresh out of the bath.
She climbs real close to the camera, so whenever you want a picture you have to continually scoot back.
We are trying to teach Ty how to dress himself. Matt is much more patient then I am with it.
Where's his shirt?
May
Riding to bed on a blanket this night.
Matt said he was going to the store for a treat for FHE. This is what he came up with, Tillamook Cookies and Cream Ice Cream, Fudge Dipped Ice Cream Cones, Magic Shell and a box of Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies that he crushed and mixed in the Ice Cream. Quite the masterpiece I would say.
In the morning I have to be careful, or a TERRIBLE mess is made. On the other hand both children are fed and happy...
