Tarantula Time!

There were A LOT of big spiders while we were down there. Mitzi and Dan live a little ways out of town and have a big log cabin type home. The first day I got there Dan was saying how these Tarantulas are all over outside. I didn't believe him until about 30 minutes later he comes walking in the house with this thing on his back. After scaring a few of us Jordan wanted to hold it, I would not touch it at all. Dan then proceeded to tell this story about when he was holding one and it bit him on his finger so he started flailing his arms and smacking the spider against his leg and it wouldn't come off. It came off eventually and he called poison control they said it was just like a bad bee sting and not to worry too much.

Dustin, Lexi, Matt, Braden, and I all found another Tarantula the next day and we caught it, we wanted to see the fangs on these things because we didn't believe Dan and his story. We put it in a little bug container thing and Dustin poked it with a stick until its "FANGS" came out... YEASH!!! They are HUGE! Not only did the fangs come out but some goopey red stuff came out too... Gives me the heeebeees just remembering it. We got Nate and Kelly down to look at it and I poked it with a stick and it's fangs went through the stick and held it there until it retracted them.... Kelly was a little squeamish when Matt came running over with something in his hands saying OPEN THE CAGE! OPEN IT!.... He kinda threw it out of his hands and it was a pine cone, Kelly thought it was a spider. Matt is such a geek sometimes. So now we believe Dans story and know that Tarantulas do bite. We ended up with two of them in our little cage, so we put a grasshopper and a cricket in there with them for a little snack if they wanted it, they didn't. We wanted to watch them eat 'em, we left them in there over night to see what they would do but they didn't do anything so I think Braden let them all go. Until next time.... I'll leave you with a nicer picture just so your stomach will stop churning...

That was.... AWESOME!

Friday~ We all played games in the morning and hung out then we went for a hike in the afternoon.
In this picture Nate and Kelly are playing "imagine if", Michaela Jordan and Braden are also playing the game in this picture. Dustin (Matts Cousin) didn't really like playing because he didn't know anyone that well. I felt especially bad when the question was "Imagine if Mickie could commission a building in her city what would it be... the answers were like museum, library, theatre, sports stadium, opera house, and blah blah, well he picked Library or something and EVERYONE else picked Sports Stadium. Ehhh I guess it was a good "get to know you" game for him. Pop (Matts Grandpa) decided to joke around and put a wig on so Matt and Nate decided to join in on the "woman" wig. Matt and Dustin played on these little 3 wheelers the WHOLE weekend, if you couldn't find one of them, chances were, this is what they were doing. MeMama (Matt's 95 year old Great Grandmother) was also able to come out for the week, she is holding Tanner in that picture. Here is a picture of Bobbie (Matt's grandma) and MeMama just scooting along. In the afternoon we went on a hike to some Indian Ruins a couple miles away from Dan and Mitzi's house. This is Mitzi and Lexi (Matt's aunt and cousin) on the hike. Lexi was hitching rides with everyone because she also rode with Larry ( Matt's Uncle) on his horse for a while. Once we got there it was about to rain so we had to leave almost as soon as we got there. Dustin and Braden wanted to explore a little more. Here is a picture of Matt and I at the Indian Ruins. It was a good time down there, I'll post more pictures tomorrow. The weather was rainy sometimes and cooler, but sometimes it was hot hot hot! I did get quite a bit of sun and have a rockin tan on my shoulders, but unfortunately no where else, so now I have some really wicked tan lines that don't match my swim suit.... Oh well. Until tomorrow...

P.S. Matt and I went and saw "Live Free or Die Hard" yesterday, good flick!
Disclaimer: There has been some questioning about where Matt's allegiance lies... Hes blue... promise I all ready gave my shirt away.... only blue runs through these Spence veins...

Ocean front property in ARIZONA

So we leave tonight to Arizona, Jordan and Micheala got in late last night and Nate and Kelly get in this afternoon to leave. This should be a fun flight with little Tanner, there are six of us to take care of him I am sure it will be fine. I'll take a lot of pictures and hopefully I wont get to burned out there. It is supposed to be HOT HOT HOT!!! Maybe I'll just get a wicked tan huh? That's wishful thinking!
p.s. does anybody know where I got my title? Bonus Points from Matt and I if you do ;)

iRiver and All Tec Auto Magic

So Kristin and I decided to get these radio transmitters for our cars for when we go on trips we can plug it into the DVD player and everyone can hear the sound and for Matt's Ipod in his car. So I got one and she got one. We tried it out this morning on the way to work. 2 thumbs up!!! Matt is excited to have it! With this new iRiver and getting his wheel bearings fixed (I don't think he wants to sell his car anymore it is MUCH quieter now) I hope this will help curb a lot of his road rage issues. All-tec Auto also got his brake light to go off somehow, its been on for a year or two now I bet it had something to do with those darned wheel bearings. (Mazda parts don't come cheep pfff) Now if there was some way to have the AC be able to blow really hard and cold with out stealing most of his power I think he would love life!

Last nights Harry Potter party was a little disappointing, only recipes, last year there was trivia, games, and prizes while they made the food. I didn't try any of the food considering most of it was chocolate but Matt said he liked the Spider cupcake the best. Will, Kristin, and I were quizzing each other before the party with some dang hard questions too... The problem was there were a whole lot of little kids (it was conducive to kids last year) and they made a lot of noise (the chairs were the kind where you stand up and they flip up) and the kids wouldn't sit still because it was boring to them. There was a little girl next to me who kept passing gas, crawling all over her Mom, whining and such... SHEESH just bugs me... I know if have children like myself, or like Matt, heaven help us because if our children are just like us...ummmm watch out world (and family who will LET us come visit) our kids are going to be crazy. I just wouldn't bring them to functions like that. Anyways I'll stop complaining now. Kristin and I finished Britanys invitations last night, It was hard finding Cowgirl stuff so we just put a boot and cowboy hat on it and called it good. It was late, hot, and Kristin was getting a headache and I was contemplating licking the glue stick to see what it tasted like... you know the drill it was late. Hope all are doing well! Love to all

Frolfing for lunch

So I went frolfing for lunch... IN A DRESS It has been slow around here lately and Peter, one of my co-workers, popped his head in my office and said lets go frolfing. I said Okay I am out of here! So we went up to Creekside and went 9 holes. Bryce, another co-worker went with and him and Peter seem to be pretty good. I wont disclose what I scored, it was bad... sorry Will... BUT the disc Peter lets me use is weird it dives really hard and I cant quite get it down. (wow that sounds whiny but it's true. I am sure you all can hear me in my high whiny voice saying it too) At least I didn't lose it! Anyways so I also was trying to be modest while out in 100 degree heat throwing a disc around in a park full of shirtless, stoned, hippie dudes that don't have jobs! (Hence the frolfing at 1:00 in the afternoon) I got quite a few weird looks but it is refreshing to get out of the office and have a little fun! Sorry no pictures... Maybe later.
Tonight we will go to a Harry Potter party at the Little Macy's Theatre with Will and Kristin. Matt opted to stay home (Go figure) a get Jason all crazy before he and Will go play Basketball later. Then Kristin and I will be working on baby shower invitations! We decided also since Suzanne will be moving in with Matt and I before the Baby Shower for Britany she gets to help with it as well! Aren't Kristin and I nice to our sister? The baby shower is on Aug 3rd at 7 pm so mark your calenders all and you'll be getting an invite in the mail soon enough. Anyways that's all for today, later!

Pictures Pictures Pictures!

Thursday was softball night and Bobbie came to watch with Max. This picture is right after Matt hit his homer and he was running to get the ball. Don't ask me why I have my hands up standing on third. That was when i got the best hit I've gotten all season a triple! Yay to me! Next Jared and Misty's son Preston liked to play with Max, (I just thought it was so cute)

On Friday night we went frolfing with Will Kristin and Jason up at the Taylorsville park. That's me there, I had Matt take a picture of me so I can get on here once in a while. I took a picture of Kristin on purpose so you all can see how PREGNANT she looks (5 1/2 months)... not, and of course little Jason is cute.

We Went to Lagoon on Saturday with Ryan and his girlfriend Stephanie. We really like her she is very down to earth and has her head on her shoulders. It was a fun day there but I was ready to go after the last Roller coaster we went on I was so dizzy I could barely walk straight. That picture Matt even got a little green after a ride.
Sunday we went to church on sent Ryan and Stephanie on their way back to Sacramento. So now we have 3 days to re-coup and clean do laundry and such before the next wave of people come down (Jordan and Michaela) on Wednesday! Matt said these last three days are our last days alone... Suzanne moves in with us once we get back from our Arizona trip on the 24th. Changes, but we welcome them! Anyone else wanna come visit? Ours doors are always open! Let us know!

Ehhhh

So I have been busy! Hence missing the posts. Matt's friend Ryan and his knew girlfriend Stephanie are in town this weekend. The last couple days have been pretty awesome ( I hope you sense my sarcasm) and it has been a culmination of things not one single event. You know when it gets to that point where you have so much to do that at night you cant sleep because of everything you need to do? Hopefully things have a better outlook soon. Matt and I leave to Arizona for the Rochelle family reunion on the 19th and I have so much to do before then. Dang! Well we lost our softball game last night, Sorry Bobbie it wasn't a good show... BUT I had a decent hit and Matt hit a homer so that was good at least. I took some pictures and Bobbie did as well, but I didn't load them this morning, there was a sleeping Ryan in the guest bedroom. I'll put them on later sorry about that! :)

Matt is selling his car, maybe, we'll see. It is parked down the road right now with FOR SALE written in the window, and is on KSL. We think it is about time for him to buy a car that isn't manual because I wont drive his car at all. I hate driving stick shift, I will only drive my automatic. Also we feel like we need something that we would feel comfortable going on long car trips with. (Maybe secretly Matt wants to drive my Jeep so he's going to buy me a car and steal my Jeep!) HA! I don't know we'll see if it sells anytime soon. We have been saving to get something else and we'll just add whatever we sell Matt's car for. I would put a picture on the blog of his car but for some reason I cant open it. So here is the post on KSL. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=733005&nid=443&tab=list/view&ad=190750 I don't know if that will work but there is the ad we have right now. Anybody have an tips for trying to sell your car? We'll put it on Craig's list tonight as well. Lets see if we get any bites! Wish us luck!

Here is what we have been doing a lot of lately. I sit and read Pride and Prejudice ( that really is how far I am Katy I think i'll be done before the year is up!) while Matt plays his guitar for me. He plays for long periods of time, hes getting nice calluses and is learning well, at least for how much time he puts into learning! This weekend we did the usual of hanging out with Will Kristin and Jason going to the pool and such. We went frolfing at a different place than usual. Art Dye, over in American Fork? Right next to the Mount Timpanogas temple. Kristin thought it was miserable. I didn't mind it as much. For your info Will i didn't take any allergy medicine and was just fine! ( I stopped taking it about 2 months ago i decided my body was to dependant upon it and if i muster through a week or two of runny nose itchy eyes and so on that they would go away and they have! We'll see if my plan works next year) Anyways these two guys were frolfing ahead of them and casually as we were leaving Will asked how they threw, One guy said i didn't throw well at all but he did, referring to his friend, his friend threw a 7 over I think it was? As they were leaving they pulled up in their SUV and asked if Will and Matt were PDGA ( Professionals) and they said no, then they said do you know what a good score would be on this course? Will said I would imagine about 5-7 over. I think Will was just being nice Matt threw a 1 under and Will threw a 2 over but he wasn't having the best of luck. I mentioned that as much time as they put into frolfing maybe they should look into being professionals. I think it would be fun right? Or just doing a tournament or something!
Sunday we went to church and it was good fun I think our primary children we teach are really warming us to us due to that fact that they joke around all the time with us! They are good kids to bad were just barely starting to feel comfortable with the group and they all leave to go to Young Women's and Young Men's. So by the way here is a picture of Matt's new running shoes, and the lovely little craft project Matt and I did a couple weeks ago ( I bet you all forgot i promised a picture once I got my camera back well here is it aren't they lovely? Aren't they!)

Grand Slam Jared!

Jared was the star of the show last night. ( He told me he better make it in the blog again) We were down after the first few innings of our softball game. I know the score was somewhere around 9-12 or something, Jared gets up to bat with one out and the bases loaded and smacked it out of the park! That was our first Grand Slam of the season and it couldn't have been at a better time! Brandon also hit a homer earlier in the game but only his wife Jodi was on base when he hit it. Still good enough to get us back in the game. I believe we ended up winning by 2, which is how much we beat them by last time.

Matt was really shaky the first inning, he said he couldn't get his legs beneath him. I cant decide what is wrong with him he wasn't feeling sick at all, he had eaten, and had been drinking water all day so maybe he was just nervous? Anyways he finally figured it out and played well. I hit EXCELLENTLY for the first time this season, scratch that the first time ever! I think it had to do with the fact that the pitcher on the other team put a back spin on the ball, but who knows. I got on base every time! yeah!

Matt heard the center fielder for the other team after the first 2 innings say,"and this team beat us last time? Did we forfeit?" Matt was determined to show that man that we did beat them and we could beat them again. So we did! Although they were a nice team really, there wasn't any sort of drama between the teams of even in our team, which is GOOD because i don't like drama at all!

Also Matt played his guitar again for an hour or so last night. He has 2 chords down really well and started working on other chords last night. His fingers don't hurt as badly when he pushes down on the High E string anymore which is good because he said that one hurt a lot!
Kristin let me borrow Pride and Prejudice, the book, I am working my way through it. I love that book and want to read the book that Bobbie suggested where the book is written from Mr. Darcy's perspective. I brought my book to work even, Its really slow around these parts.
Well hope everyone has a good weekend!

OHH and on a side note, Jared the same one who hit a grand slam last night, showed me a receipt where he bought 110 boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for something like $2.62 he had over 117 dollars of savings from Albertson's. Apparently the stuff was on sale already and if you bought 11 items of Kraft they gave you 8 dollars off. We figure each box cost him .02 each. Good deal! I don't think my mom ever found a deal that good huh!

It was a hot day!

Okay so yesterday turns out Matt really wasn't feeling well. He was up half the night on Tuesday puking. I think it was sun poisoning because he barely ate anything and he didn't drink much water and he played A LOT. Needless to say we didn't leave the house until about 1:30. We went Mini Golfing! Yay! It was fun, then we came home for Jason to take a nap, Matt and I took one too, Kristin made a very YUMMY BBQ dinner for us then it was off to the pool for a hour or so then Frisbee golfing. We only took pictures Mini Golfing so beggars cant be choosers in the picture category of the day. When I have my arm up that means I got a hole in one! Will got a hole in one first on that hole though so that's why he has his arm up too. Even though I am really really bad at Miniature golf. Will and Kristin beat Matt and I by 13 strokes all on my accord. Matt was only a stroke or two behind Will and I was about 8 behind Kristin. Ehhhh so I am not good whatever. Ohh and the picture where Matt has a goofy face he got a hole in one as well.
When we got back from Frisbee Golf Kristin and I made this Hot Chocolate Ala mode cake that was SOOOOOOOOOOO Good. If you know me, you know I don't eat chocolate except for on holidays. Yesterday was a holiday so we had to make something chocolate, IT WAS SO RICH we messed up in the recipe so more sugar and cocoa went in the cake then there should have been. It was a warm oooey gooey goodness and you had to have about a gallon of milk with it but it was good! I think Kristin is going to post the recipe. When it says serves 12 it means it! Matt was able to eat his whole bowl full I have no idea how but anyways the day was wonderful. Now I am back at work, LAME but I have a softball game tonight hopefully it is a better turn out then last week right?

Birthday Fun!

So on Friday I took Matt to get him new running shoes at Wasatch Running Company for his Birthday. It is a cool running store where they watch you run and walk and jog and they stare at your feet and try to decide what type of shoe would fit you best. Matt got a "neutral" running shoe, they almost gave him a "stabilizing" shoe because his right foot "over pronates" a little... right... Anyways so we were there for about 30 minutes or so and he got a new pair of running shoes. His first nice pair of running shoes and he says he felt like he was running on air when we tried them out on Saturday. Hopefully they will be more comfortable then the other ones he bought a long time ago. Side note when Matt came to pick me up I had one of my friends at work sneak his other present into the back of the Jeep while he was on the phone with Jordan. So we went home really quickly to get our Tucanos buy one get one free card and there I said to him Matt are you ready for your real present? He said huh so I pulled out a HUGE box and he had NO IDEA I got the present for him. Usually he is all over our bank account like ants on a spilled snow cone so he knows everything I buy before I even tell him. He unwrapped it and I have never seen him get that excited for a gift. It was a guitar with all the accessories needed. I am excited for him to learn, guys that play the guitar are so attractive right, I mean I find him really attractive now but... you know what I mean anyways.
We then met up with the whole clan for dinner at Tucanos, its a Brazilian type restaurant where they walk around with slabs of meat on skewers and put it on your plate. That is Matt's kind of Restaurant. We turned out to be celebrating my Matts Birthday, my Moms Birthday, Kristin and Will having a girl, Michael's first listing, Jeremy's birthday, Rays new job, Trish tripling her average, sheesh I don't know what else. It was fun to be with everybody for dinner! We then went and saw Ratatouille or however you spell it. (thanks Trish and Michael for the ride BTW) It was okay, a renter not a GREAT film. I was disappointed, I was expecting another "cars" type movie, really witty and funny, this film was not the case. I thought it was pretty boring. The animation was really good though, so if you are in it for that...

Saturday we went to the Scera pool for a couple hours, and of course Frisbee golfing, and to my uncle Art and Aunt Mickeys for fireworks and a BBQ it was nice to talk to my cousin Kelly who I rarely see but lives right around. Kristin took tons of pictures so I think that i'll have her send me a few. Jason and Matt are so cute at the pool together.

Sunday I was grumpy because I am a HORRIBLE faster... I need to work on that. My mind takes over my body and I cant function when I don't have food... crazy anyways my mom and Kristin were nice and came to make dinner at my house and my mom spent the night last night and left this morning. It was great weekend and Matt said his birthday was great! Tonight I am sure he will be tinking with his guitar... after we go for a run : )
