Ba-loom obsession

Ty has become OBSESSED with "Ba-loom"s (Balloons). His favorite movie is now, Up!  What could be better then a movie with tons of balloons AND dogs. It's not my favorite, but now I know every line.

The reason I tell you all about this Balloon obsession is because we have had the opportunity to go visit my Grandpa at his new rehabilitation place twice. There are balloons there, everywhere, in every room! The first day we went he ended up collecting 4 balloons running up and down the hallways. He would run into random patients rooms and want their balloons. I was nervous with him disturbing everyone but it was quite the opposite. They LOVED seeing him, especially how excited he was about "BA-LOOMS BA-LOOMS!!!" He had this one fellow following him in his wheelchair poking his balloon and Ty was more then happy to play with him. Plus the all you can eat ice cream is a big plus to him too.

Last time we went Aunt Holly gave him one of Grandpa's balloons and now it's all he plays with. Matt taught Ty how to throw a squishy baseball at it for target practice. He can actually hit it from pretty far away even though he doesn't do it in the video. Oh he can say baseball too, but it comes out at "babs-bee" yeah... pretty close huh? Not even! He loves his B words, Banana, Ball, Balloon, Baby... I am working with him on other words. Dog comes out as  Dog-gug. I think that is because the main dog's name in Up! is Doug. Anyways enjoy the video, it's not all that exciting but we had nothing else going on this morning because of dang 1 o'clock church time, what do you do all morning!? Play target practice on the "Ba-Loom"

Oh and he runs over at the beginning and gives me a cheesy smile because he thinks I am taking his picture...

There IS a little lady in there! (Long boring blah blah post of rambling)

So I went back through my posts from two years ago looking to glean info on my last pregnancy with Ty. MAN that was a tough pregnancy! Loads of pain, kicking, breaking, stretching and ripping. I think I have taken Tylenol 3 times this whole pregnancy, gosh with Ty near the end it was a daily occurrence!

This one truly has been a breeze, so far Maylee has proven to be quite the genteel little lady that she will HOPEFULLY be outside the womb. HA I laughed out loud as I typed that because with me as her mother I can tell you odds are slim to none. I was quite the rascal when I was young and I expect nothing less from our little Maylee girl.

Pluses so far are that I can still wear a few regular pants intermixed with maternity pants... thank you miracle Belly Bands, I don't know how any pregnant lady gets through with out them. A special thanks to Kristin for handing those off to me :) I try on about 4 shirts a day though. Some maternity shirts work, most are still too big. Weird complaint I know but Kristin got some really cute ones that I want to wear but can't yet because they are just too long and saggy. I expect I'll fit into them in a few more weeks.

As far as Maylee goes she seems to be calmer then Ty was (SEE? She IS a little lady). When Ty moved he didn't just roll but he punched and kicked, he broke one of my ribs and bruised another at about 36 weeks from his stretching and kicking. In fact I have nerve damage from it and have no feeling right below my sternum still. ANYWAY I am hoping and praying Maylee doesn't do the same. She is much more smooth and predictable with her moving, she still stretches out but it isn't painful yet. I am starting to get uncomfortable at times when I am sitting or lying weird and I can't breathe, other then that things are great.

I went snowmobiling Monday and thought later, "Hmmm maybe that wasn't a 31 week pregnancy approved activity." I sure enjoyed it, Maylee on the other hand wasn't a fan, making me pay with contractions through the following night. I fell asleep having them so they weren't bad and went away in the morning. My round ligament pain has been WAY worse then it was with Ty but to be honest I think it's because I had way buffer abs going into this one then the last one. It happens most when I work out too hard, the next day I feel it, that's for dang sure.

I am glad Ty is as old as he is because now when I drop things Ty is happy to pick them up for me. I don't wear shoes with laces anymore, just my slip on boots and flats. Bending over is not a fun thing to do. In fact my Dad pointed it out to me that I "forgot" to zip up my boots and I told him that I didn't ever bother to zip them up since it required bending over. He said he would zip them up for me but that just means eventually I would have to bend over to UNZIP them... defeats the purpose a bit. Plus it saves Matt's back because we all know he would be the one doing all the lacing and zipping for me!

I don't think Matt has noticed much of a change and life is pretty normal for him. I still sleep on my side/ stomach, which was impossible at this point with Ty. I note this because Matt is a super, duper, extra unknowing BED HOG and STILL has that luxury with me sleeping comfortably. I just sleep with a tiny pillow between my legs, not the 4 pillows fluffed all around me I had with Ty :)  Also, since I don't work I have the opportunity to sneak in a little nap on those really tiring days. That makes things nice for Matt too that I don't go to bed at 9 am, considering that is when he walks in the door most nights.

Poor Maylee doesn't get her own room decor since she'll be sharing with Ty. The only room prep i'll do for her is take down Ty's "No Cowgirls Allowed" sign so she'll feel more comfortable. (insert smirk) Other then that we just need to get all her clothes ready, but Kristin says Elena is almost done with her 0-3 month clothes so we'll inherit a giant bin from them. That sure takes some of the immediate financial pressure off of dressing her. Unfortunately though if Maylee grows anything like her brother she'll be bigger then cousin Elena by the time she is 6 months so we wont be able to take all the hand-me-downs since Elena will still be wearing them!

My kind and darling sisters have a baby shower cooking up for us next month too. I said I was indifferent to having one so Kristin took that as HECK YES I WANT ONE AND IT BETTER BE OVER THE TOP CRAZY AWESOME! You should HEAR what they have planned... not your typical shower. I think Kristin has winter blues and checks craftgossip.com too often so those juices are sure flowing. Hey, I'm not complaining though since it is I that gets the reap the rewards :) I knew she was really excited about it when she started telling MATT all the details. He kindly listened, but inside I am sure he was wondering if a game was on or something. It will be really fun though so I am excited.

That's about it for my ramblings, I just hope the next 9 weeks go by quick and painless. Hmmm quick and painless two words one doesn't normally use when describing pregnancy... heck though i'm going with it, wish me luck!

Bear River Snowmobiling Trip

This week we had the chance to go up to Bear River and stay in an AWESOME cabin and go Snowmobiling all day Monday. It was a great trip, with a few dampers. One is my Grandparents were supposed to join us but with my Grandpa's Stroke they weren't able to come and they were sorely missed. (More on his condition later) also, the first day we got there... Sunday, Matt was tromping around in the back and found a great sled hill he decided to try out by himself. Well Britany (my SIL) decided she should try it too and went down once hit a bump and ended up with a Concussion. Yeah way to go Matt push her down Concussion hill! ANYWAYS so Britany ended up in the hospital but came home Sunday night. Poor girl was just like Dori on Finding Nemo asking the same questions over and over. She did recover and was better Monday morning, poor thing was NOT allowed to do any snowmobiling OR sledding the whole day though.

MONDAY however was a GORGEOUS DAY and injury free, well besides the normal sore arms and back from hitting bumps and jumps. I think Preston and my Mom were the only ones that got stuck but since we traveled in packs of at least 5 there was always someone there to help dig out. Matt did have his snowmobile fall on it's side doing so wicked awesome jumps and slides too but no damage was done either.
Mom taking Sierra out, i'll let Kristin share her funny Sierra story on her blog.
Matt and Ty walking around in the snow.
Dad taking out Jason. Jason is giving the thumbs up at the beginning, but snowmobiling wasn't his favorite.
The second group getting their orientation.
Preston and Suzanne ready to roll
HD getting all strapped in.

A few in the group were even able ride up to my Great Grandma's cabin (kinda a family cabin) and check it out. Matt can't WAIT to get up there in the summer to help fix it up and spend a few weekends up there. I was taking a nap when they rode up there so we didn't get any pictures.
Kristin getting up the guts to go by herself
After we helped dig out some random people on the left side of the trail, mom decided to dump it on the right side.
Ty even went for a ride with us and he loved it. We only took him out for about 30 minutes but when we were done he kept trying to climb on the other ones himself to go back out.

Matt and Will did some sledding too while waiting their turns on the snowmobiles. Matt took Ty sledding too (NOT Concussion hill) and Ty really liked it.
The loft with 3 HUGE luvsacs for the kids to play, Matt was launching the kids pretty far onto those things.
The place had 2 full kitchens, but we all just used the upstairs one.
This is the outside of the cabin with Jason sledding in. Like I said the Cabin we stayed in was GORGEOUS and would HIGHLY recommend anyone to go out there. It was PERFECT for our family and could have comfortably slept more. We missed my younger brother Colton dearly too, he had to stay up at school.
Ty giving me a CHEESE smile.
Tuesday morning while we were cleaning up and getting ready to check out everyone went sledding one last time. It was REALLY snowy too on Tuesday so it was nice that we went Snowmobiling Monday when the weather was great.
Baylee headed down the hill with Jason waiting his turn. My Dad was helping push.
Baylee and Laycee running around.
Britany, Kristin, Elena, Matt and Will hanging out.
Elena didn't enjoy the snow much.
Jason LOVED the snow!
Sierra climbed up a big snow mound and Ty wanted up there too. I told him that I wouldn't climb up there with him and he was unhappy.
Nice Aunt Kristin lugged him up there and Jason joined the party too.
Right before we left I had my mom get one of the three of us.

Tuesday we drove home and Kristin and I had the chance to go see our Grandpa since his stroke. He is doing all right, he can move a little bit and smile. He knows who we are and was happy to see us, of course we brought in pictures from the trip and told him all the stories and he laughed a little and smiled. He has apparently started to be able to write a few things with his left hand. That is tricky left handed in the first place and also is a great improvement. We are still praying for him and hope that his recovery can go well. My mom is staying another week with my Grandma at her house to ease the loneliness and to help find a longer term (but short term) rehabilitation home for my Grandpa. Hopefully they can find one soon and my Grandpa can keep progressing, really thats all we can ask for. We sure love him.

I'm so glad when Daddy comes home

A few days ago Suzanne and I were baking some mini cheesecakes for her to bring somewhere, so I put on a little show for Ty to watch on our little DVD player.
Matt got home from school and got down next to Ty to see what he was watching and Ty instantly wrapped his arm around neck.
He really wouldn't let go of Matt for quite sometime so I just had to take a picture!
The next day when Matt got home from school he got him in his pajama's and we rented Hercules on Nextflix. Ty LOVED it (one i'll be needing to buy because I like that one too) and Matt even popped some "Mallow Magic" Popcorn for them to share...a special treat! Funny how they watch movies and eat popcorn the same way.
Then of course there is the time right before bed when Ty is punch drunk and thinks everything is hilarious...

I'll tell you what, he LOVES his Dad. Let's be honest though, for some reason he calls Matt, "MATT!" instead of Dad.  It's pretty funny when we are at church and Ty stands up in the pew while Matt is up counting the ward attendance and Ty starts yelling, "MATT MAAATT MATT!" Then he looks at me and says "Where's Dad?" while shrugging his shoulders and putting his hands out then goes back to, "Matt! MATT!" haha  We both correct him every time, maybe someday Ty will call him Dad. :)

P.S. On a completely unrelated note (so unrelated and not in the same humor as what I have posted thus far I thought about not saying anything) but equally important to share, my Grandpa Coombs (Mom's Dad) had a pretty serious stroke this morning so any prayers sent his and our families way would be greatly appreciated. He is in the hospital right now and recovery is going to be a long road for him, we're hoping, praying and fasting for the best.

FINE!

So here it is, 30 weeks just in case you are wondering. I have all ready gained the amount of weight I wanted to gain TOTAL so I am none too happy... If you can't tell, I don't get a cute baby bump I get fat EVERYWHERE...in my face, arms, legs, booty... blah.  To be perfectly honest I wasn't sucking in or anything, the picture WAS taken in the morning though so I look smaller, pretty sure I am bigger then this picture portrays, I definitely FEEL bigger that's for sure. BUT I should just be thankful that me and our baby girl are healthy and that I still have energy to keep up with my maniac of a son.

Little Helper

As I have been baking I have been letting Ty "help" me. It has taken everything in my power not to freak out when he makes a mess with the Sugar, Salt or Flour. I am pretty OCD about cleaning up as I go, using as little dishes as possible and not spilling anything so all I do is wipe the counter up after I put my creation in the oven. With Ty this isn't the case, he gets his own measuring spoons and cups and helps me dump the flour in the bowl... he spills the salt and sticks his fork in the batter or dough and flicks it everywhere while attempting to stir. I just tell myself it's okay it's okay... He really enjoys it though as you can tell by the above picture (Ty now really knows when I am taking his picture so he pulls the cheese ball face. It was only inevitable that he picked this face up considering both Matt and I mastered it as children.)

We made homemade bread about 2 weeks ago for the first time in my life. Okay, I have made bread in my bread machine before and pulled the dough out but that just doesn't count in my book. This time we made it ALL by hand. I can't remember why we made it but it was actually stinking good! Matt was in heaven when he ate the first loaf (yes I said loaf I maybe got 1 or 2 slices) the second loaf I made Kneaders Raspberry Bread Pudding with and again Matt was in double heaven.

Here are a few pictures of the little helper in action...
He was pinching flour and putting it in the bowl of bread dough
We made brownies for a baby shower and Ty got to lick the bowl and spatula
Here is the delightful bread that we made, first try even! Looks pretty tasty huh! I am baking some more right now because we ran out of bread and Matt eats at LEAST 2 PB &J sandwiches a day, he'll need some for work tomorrow. Yum smells so good.

TMT: Parent Test... PASSED!

WARNING: This waffle flavor isn't for the faint of heart... if you don't do "sick" then don't read this...y'all are just lucky there isn't any syrup involved, I actually thought about it after one incident but then decided that would be way too graphic.

Ty was sick this weekend, the kind of sick you dread your kid having while you are pregnant, yeah that kind. One morning I was hurrying to get out the door and Ty looked at me funny... then he started making funny noises. I was standing in the kitchen and he turned the corner to come find me and stood at the edge of the carpet and uhh, let it rip so to speak. I looked at him and he had throw up all over himself. I grabbed a few towels (yes it was THAT much) and started cleaning up. Instead of being irritated that I had all these things to do that day and now I wouldn't get any of it done because Ty was sick OR being annoyed that I am super pregnant and on my hands and knees cleaning up nastiness all over the kitchen floor realizing after I wipe it all up I better just MOP the whole floor to make sure I get it all... ALL I thought was, "Lucky thing it was on the kitchen floor instead of the carpet, it's way easier to clean up this way. Oh and look at that he only puked on my shoes and pants, not my shirt or in my hair... that means I can just change my bottom half when I am done cleaning up Yay" After I got done thinking that I laughed out loud because I realized, I just passed the mom test! I wasn't upset just grateful it happened how it did and realized it could have been a ton worse.

Then later this weekend Matt had Ty lying next to him in bed. I was crawling into bed with them when Ty sat up and made the same funny noise with his mouth. I looked at Matt and before I could spit out the words "Watch out!" Ty let it rip again, in our bed all over our sheets. Matt was so fast though that he rolled out of the way to miss the projectiled contents... we picked Ty up stripped him down and he was in the tub at the same time that I got all our sheets off and in the wash. When I got back upstairs Matt said, "Did you see how fast I rolled? Good reflexes huh? Good thing it was just on the sheets, we can wash those easily." I would say Matt passed the Dad test, rolling so fast he didn't get yacked on.

I know all of you have been there and done that and after a weekend of sleepless nights and making sure a towel and or bowl is always in reach I am pleased to announce Ty is no longer sick and neither Matt nor I caught whatever he had going on... Hallelujah to that!

New Years Day

Hey all! We got a new laptop! I did tons and tons of research on what is best and to find a really good price etc... then we went to Best Buy narrowed it down a bit and Matt picked this one out SIMPLY because it had a separate number pad on the side of the key board. Can you tell he is a finance guy? It's weird and will take some getting used to I think. It's always lame figuring out all your settings, getting things to the way you like them and getting a general feel for the new machine. ANYWAY long story short it took me a while to get these pictures on here from my camera, I KNOW there is an easier way I just have to figure it out.  BUT because of my hard work, you get to see some pictures and videos from this month! I'll do my best in the next few days to get caught up.

On New Years Day we were lazy folk, we ALL slept in, we played in the morning making a mess, then went over to Cabela's to show Ty all the fish and animals.

Matt divised this little plan to make Ty a slide, he REALLY liked it and only crashed OFF the pillows once! Oh and Matt had just changed Ty's diaper and didn't bother buttoning him back up.
The tube approach...
The sleeping bag approach...

Going to Cabela's was a GREAT idea (it was Matt's) They have a big Aquarium with a ton of fish. Ty was pointing and running and blabbing like crazy!
There were tons of different types of fish, I saw a Catfish MAN are those things ugly.

Pointing at all the fish one in particular kept swimming low right in front of him.
Then we walked him around to all the exhibits of Bear, Antelope, Wolves, Moose, Deer, Elk, Horses, you name it they had it. Ty's favorite was these ducks that they had spinning in circles, he screamed while looking up and running in circles underneath them. It was pretty hilarious.
We let Ty run and run and run which was great because the weather was TERRIBLE and he was ready to get out of the house.

I bet we'll be making another trip again when the weather is bad and we have no where to go. It is a great place for kids and families! We were probably there about an hour and a half and could probably spend even more time there.

FYI

I am returning my work Laptop tomorrow morning. If all goes right we'll have a new one by tomorrow evening, if not it might not be for another week or so because the one we want may have to be ordered. Either way I am excited for a new computer! Just thought I would say something so none of you are offended when I don't respond to your e-mails or comment on your blogs for a week or so. :)

Happy Feet

When Ty wants anyone to do something for him, OR he gets excited about something, out come his happy feet. Obviously this video was taken BEFORE New Years, actually on Christmas Eve because he has a pacifier in his mouth. Matt is driving a remote control car and Ty got on the couch at Kristin and Will's house because he didn't want to be chased by it. Matt kept driving it under the entertainment center and Ty anxiously awaited for it to appear.Preston took the video for us. Thanks for sending it over!

If you listen he says about 3 different things, you can't tell he is saying them clearly because of the pacifier but he says, "Oh, There it is!" "Uh-Oh" and "What happened?" You can understand him better now.

Flashback Wednesday

Suzannes BIL Spencer took all our old pictures off our PC and I just took all my pictures off this Laptop and put them on the external Hard Drive we are borrowing... ALSO Suzanne found a picture too... thought I would share a few oldie but goodies
Check out this GEM! Here is Matt (18) HD in the background (19) and Jordan (16)... HAHA isn't it great?

I believe we took this 2 days after we were married, in our first apartment so Matt was 22 and I was 21... DANG we look young and boy were we good looking! What happened! (hmmm kids, school, life bleck I look so much older now, but Matt doesn't seem to have aged at all... What?)
Ahhhh that's more like what we look like, busted up and tired haha. I had just got my wisdom teeth out and Matt had plastic surgery on his broken nose... this is BEFORE we were married too. Poor Kristin took care of both of us that day.

Maybe I'll find some more soon :)

TMT: Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy

On Sunday a teenage gal in the ward gave a talk during Sacrament Meeting. Her topic was keeping the Sabbath Day Holy. She had the usually refreshing points but one thing she said struck a cord with me.

I think everyone has those days where you just want to stay home and not go to church, you don't want to deal with the kids or the classes or have to sit there for 3 hours.Maybe you just want to sleep or veg out from having a stressful week.

She talked about that feeling and drew this parallel, in Matthew 26:36-41 it says,
36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy .
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 And he went a little further , and fell on his face, and prayed , saying , O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will , but as thou wilt.
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep , and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

She pointed out that Sacrament meeting is only an hour long, and she said can WE not watch with Christ for just ONE hour a week?

When she said that I thought, wow! How many people say they don't have time for church or just didn't want to go (guilty here, but I force myself to go). Every time I have that attitude leaving the house I come home so much more enlightened, not once have I said upon returning home "Well going to church today was a COMPLETE waist of time! I didn't learn ONE thing!" I always do and it's for my benefit not for any one else that I go to church, just partaking of the sacrament alone and renewing the covenants I have made should do it but I always learn something extra... So I am now recommitted to be HAPPY and EXCITED to "watch with (him) one hour" or three as my case may be.

Syrup shortage details

The reason I haven't posted any good stuff in a while is because we are switching Laptops, I am bringing the one I have now back into work since it's theirs and we are buying a new one. Problem is I have to take all my personal stuff off this one and I don't want to add more just to take it off. Plus the memory on this laptop is super low anyways so I can't add much. Long story short it will be a week or two before you get any good sweet goodness on our blogs... I do intend to post a few great pictures when we get our NEW lap top though :)

Wii!!!

Christmas Eve we put the kids to bed and decided to do a little Ski Junping on the Wii.
Matt was trying to break his previous record and wasn't doing so well at first...
So I showed his proper form, you have to do it like a real Ski Jumper! After my tutorial I think he did a ton better :)
Colton in his Christmas pajamas my mom made him tried his techinque and did all right, he did complain of sweaty feet however.
Cousin Travis was over and gave it a shot, I don't know if he ever landed a jump...Maybe he did...
Hmmm Take Off Failed, thats not a good sign! She got a hang of it by the end.
Whoops Preston was so tall after taking Suzanne's picture that I missed his head! Looks like the jumping went well.
Mom even gave it a try, decent form all though you should probably try bending your knees next time and use less booty haha.

On an unrelated note, Matt and I got a new cell number with Sprint, if you need it let me know and i'll send it on over to ya :) It's always tough changing e-mail addresses and cell numbers.

TMT: You know who you are :)

To whomever you are, thank you so much. I don't know what else to say besides that. Your kindness has reached the bottom of our hearts. I had to try hard to hold it together when I looked closer and realized what I was holding. Obviously you don't want us to know who you are, but we want you know it is literally an answer to our prayers.

With love,
The Spence Family

Day Three

Matt and I decided our New Years Resolutions were getting rid of Ty's pacifier and getting him off his morning and evening milk bottle, this month. If we don't there will be some serious confusion when baby Maylee comes around!

(Ty with Uncle Colton and a family friend, Adam on Christmas Eve)

As you can see as of Christmas our 18 month old was still walking around with his beloved pacifier. I thought things were going to be rough and ALMOST talked myself out of doing it. Turns out I didn't have a chance, I came down on New Years Day morning and Ty immediately handed me his pacifier. I looked at it and Matt had snipped off the end of it before Ty got up. I told Ty it was broken. He popped it back in his mouth and chewed on it for a second then took it out and handed it back to me. I put it on the counter and he didn't even complain!

Matt and I thought bedtime and nap time would be miserable, but he has slept just the same and just as long. We still give him his "broken" pacifier in hopes that he'll see other pacifiers now (like baby cousin Elena's) and not think about putting it in his mouth because he thinks that one is "broken" as well. As always we are on the alert for when he finds a pacifier somewhere that we missed and that one will be promptly snipped.

Of course this would happen but both Matt and I think Ty is talking a lot more in the last few days. Not that we know what he is saying but I am sure in the next few days/weeks/months we'll understand more. His latest favorite thing to say is, " WHAT?" when you ask him something. He did it to Matt the other day and Matt almost fell over laughing because Ty hadn't said it to him before. Funny stuff...

It's weird to think that Ty really is no longer a baby and changed to a full blown toddler. Where did my Baby Ty go? Maybe it's a good thing we're having another one so soon. Ty is growing too fast.  He even went to Nursery all on his own yesterday, I was moved to teaching the 5 year old class and Ty didn't even cry when I left.

Now on to Bottle removal, still don't know how to go about that one since he will NOT drink milk from anywhere else. I think in a week or two we'll give it a shot.

Special TMT First 2011 Edition: Why Do I Blog?

For the last few months I have wondered to myself, what is the point of blogging? Why do I post pictures and personal stories on the web for ALL in the world to see? Why do I do it so frequently?

I came up with a few answers on my own, you know the typical ones:
~I do it for family and friends (especially Grandparents) to see Ty and our family grow even though they are far away.
~I do it to remember certain events myself so I can go back and figure out when things happened.
~I do it for the comments (scratch that) all though I love the comments, they aren't a real reason to blog for me.
~I do it for the sake of keeping a family journal.

After thinking of these reasons, and more that escape me right now, I wondered if blogging will ever go out of fashion. Maybe one day technology will be so stinking awesome (wait, isn't it all ready?) that something new and ingenious will take the blogging world by storm and put it to shame, will I still blog then? Really though, why do I do it?

The other morning I was reading the Book of Mormon with Ty, in Jacob Chapter 4. This is what I read,

"1 Now behold, it came to pass that I, Jacob, having ministered much unto my people in word, (and I cannot write but a little of my words, because of the difficulty of engraving our words upon plates) and we know that the things which we write upon plates must remain; (How difficult is blogging for me, really it' not)

2 But whatsoever things we write upon anything save it be upon plates must perish and vanish away; (a paper journal can be misplaced, ruined or even destroyed. Believe me I know about this first hand. Pretty sure the web is a permanent place to keep a journal, plus I can add pictures and video so easily!) but we can write a few words upon plates, which will give our children, and also our beloved brethren, a small degree of knowledge concerning us, or concerning their fathers—

3 Now in this thing we do rejoice; and we labor diligently to engraven these words upon plates, hoping that our beloved brethren and our children will receive them with thankful hearts, and look upon them that they may learn with joy and not with sorrow, neither with contempt, concerning their first parents.

4 For, for this intent have we written these things, that they may know that we knew of Christ...
So there you have it, why do I blog? So that you my "brethren", my children and grandchildren and all my posterity will know me, they will know Matt, they will know any one else that I blog about (Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents and Friends) they will know what we like/liked to do (like blogging!), what everyday life was for us, how we raised them, and most importantly that we knew of Christ, that we tried to "Let [our] lights so shine before men, that they may see [our] good works, and glorify [our] Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 everyday. That we had our ups and downs, ebbs and flows and that life isn't perfect but through it all we continue/continued to endure to the end.

Hopefully one day, in the distant future my posterity will look at this blog and learn something that will help them in their life, maybe that something will be:
that I wasn't a great cook at first (hint hint I THINK I am getting better)
OR that even though sewing is tough keep at it and it will be easier once you realize that sewing is for RIGHT HANDED PEOPLE so conform to the right handed ways and it will come quicker
OR that new things like Triathlons and Community Theater takes time but it's pretty fun and worth at least one try
OR that working full time, while attending school full time, WHILE having a family at home is so rough and half the time you don't know how you'll make it through but in the end, turns out it's doable (at least that is what I keep telling myself one more semester!)
OR that their ancestors were completely crazy but totally awesome at the same time
OR that it's cute to have a big head and/or crooked ears, it comes from every direction in the family (Sorry!)
OR that raising kids is super hard but absolutely worth it

but mostly I hope that they learn of the knowledge that I have that Jesus Christ died for us, that he was resurrected, and that he was the perfect example that they should follow, because that's who I am trying to follow. Also, that because of him and the perfect plan that has been set forth by our Father in Heaven we can all live with them and our families in Heaven again. Hopefully that knowledge will spark or strengthen them to be a better person and to keep on keepin' on because really, isn't that what life (or what my blogging) should be all about?
