Sunday morning Matt and I went over to Mitzi and Lexis hotel room. We then followed them over to the next place that Larry was playing. It was called "Top Hand Cowboy Church" You read it right... Matt and I went to church there. They even ride their horses to church some Sundays! It started at 10 am, we walked in with our jeans and boots on. Everyone was wearing their jeans and boots, it was great! The people we VERY nice to us, they shook our hands and wanted to just talk to us, it wasn't because we were new to the church, I have just decided that's the way Texans are. I think they really are genuinely nice people. Any who, we were in a barn that was big enough to fit about 150 people i think? But they stacked hay bales around the whole out side for those late comers to sit on those instead of the chairs. Yvonne, Matt, Mitzi, Lexi and I chose to sit right up front by the band.

I guess we were Larry's groupies. Funny thing is instead of passing a hat or plate for tithes and offerings they had a big dutch oven in the back where you put your check or cash. They baptised in the watering trough too HA HA, maybe that was a joke I couldn't tell if they were being serious or not. While we were there we sang songs for about 30 minutes with the band, none of which I knew the words too, then a step in preacher taught for about 30 minutes. Yvonne, Matt's aunt was disappointed that "Pastor Greg" wasn't there because he was a real interesting guy she said. OH and sorry guys no pictures there I didn't know if I was able to take them. I could have, I found out after...the lady sitting in front of us snapped a few, oh well next time we go I will be equipped!

After church we went over to "Zack and Jim's HOG CREEK Ice house" grill and saloon, ha ha right after church ha ha.

Anyways they asked us when we got there if we would be drinking or not. It was 11:30 on a Sunday, do you really think we would be drinking? I guess people do drink that early they would rather not have a hang over so they just keep on trucking through the weekend. Mitzi got a good laugh when they asked her if she would be drinking she said "Now? on a Sunday? This early? No i wont be drinking..." Anyways so we sat down to eat and the poor waitress chick was pretty dense.

All weekend Matt and I had been eating just little things here and there not having been really impressed with anything, then we ordered cheeseburgers at this joint. Boy they are right everything really is bigger is Texas. this cheeseburger was HUGE! I mean 6 or 7 inches across huge! I turned to Matt and said "Dang when I order a 6 dollar burger this is what I want!" it was a heart attack waiting to happen. Of course I didn't finish mine but Matt wolfed his down in about 10 minutes, maybe quicker... I seem to look away while eating a french fry and look back and his food is gone. I offered him the rest of mine he said he was full thank goodness. He could have died if he ate more! Needless to say the food was excellent.
After we finished eating we started unloading Larry's horse trailer to get all the music equipment out. I have little to no music experience when it comes to setting up a stage, same with Mitzi and Matt. So it came down to D and Yvonne to pretty much do it all. Matt moved big stuff around but I pretty much just watched. I felt quite useless but i found a few things to do here and there. We had everything pretty much set up when Matt decided we better go over to his moms grave site before it got too late.

LUCKILY we told Mitzi we were going over there and Lexi wanted to go with us. Unfortunately, Dustin wanted to go too but he needed to stay and help set up (Matt and I were little help at that point they were plugging in all sorts of cords and stuff). The reason I was happy that Lexi came is because I am sure I would have just cried and cried if it was just Matt and I. As it was I was a little weepy but could easily blame it on my eyes watering because it was so windy. I took a picture of the grave site, here Holly is my first time meeting her.

It was pretty touching and I am glad Matt and I went over there. She has been gone for just shy of 9 years now, to Matt it seems like just yesterday. In fact when we were at Tammie's house he said he kept feeling like his mom would pop her head around the corner at any minute to join in the laughter and conversation we were having. I wish I knew her, it was very interesting to see so many and talk to so many that knew and loved her. Every single person we spoke to told us how wonderful she truly was and how much they loved and missed her. It was so cool to hear about.
So later after we left the cemetery we went and got some Blue Bell Ice Cream. I am not a huge Ice Cream fan in the first place mind you, but it was good. Matt LOVED it and Lexi liked it too.

By the time we got back to the Saloon, Lou had all these friends there, I'd say about 40 of them. He had no idea about it so when he walked in he was SOO surprised! Also It was so fun to meet all of the WAY extended family, cousins. aunts, and uncles that I had never even heard about. They were all really nice people, so happy to meet me and see Matt. Lou played and sang along with Larry and a couple other steel guitar players and fiddle players played as well. I have had Western Swing stuck in my head for days now!

When we were there one of Holly's best friends came with her kids. Karen Smith and her kids are Kelly and Thomas. Kelly has a new little baby that is so cute and Thomas is engaged! His Fiance was beautiful. Matt and Thomas had a very good time catching up and talking about old times. Karen was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life!
They played music for about 4-5 hours, after that we all packed up and went our separate ways. Matt and I had to go back up to Frisco, Mitzi and Lexi flew out of Austin so they had to go back there. Dustin went back to his apartment and Larry and Yvonne had to go across town to Hewitt to get home. It was good seeing everybody and I wish we had one more day with everyone. Larry said "Awe man I cleaned my house for nothing!" He is a funny guy.
Sunday night Matt called Tammie to get directions back to her house, she said simple ones and we were on our way. Well Matt wasn't used to going the way Tammie said and we ended up completely lost and at this shell station out east somewhere. We pulled over and started to ask for directions. The poor guy at the station barely spoke English and he wasn't of much help. As Matt and I were talking someone else came to the counter and said where did you want to go? Frisco? Oh I am going there right now just follow me. ( We were about 45 minutes away from Frisco) TALK ABOUT A MIRACLE. It was late and dark and there is no way we would have found our way home with out this guy. I think we took about 4 different freeways to get where we were going and turns out the guy lived about a mile or two away from where we were going. CRAZY! We thanked him profusely and we got to Tammie's house. We had some Lasagna for dinner at about 11 at night It was still yummy and went to bed.
MONDAY was a chill day, we didn't do much of anything, we drove around Plano and Matt showed me his old Elementary school and all his old houses. Apparently he lived in 3 different houses in the same neighborhood geez! Talk about a lot of moving... I guess I lived in three different houses growing up as well... Anyways then we went to Cicis Pizza for lunch ( I know Nate Jordan you guys are sooo jealous)

To be honest it wasn't great, but Matt was so excited! We also drove out to McKinney to see Jared's grave site. He was a still born brother of Matt's. It was weird because in his gravestone it says "Our little missionary" and right now if he was alive he would be on his mission. Kind of cool to see... Now I have met everyone in his family!

After that we went back to Tammie's and hung out until we met back up with the WHOLE Slaughter family for dinner at El Chico's. It was good food and I think I had the best salsa of my life there! The Slaughters are so nice and informed us that the 20 acres behind them are for sale and we need to move in... Yeesh I don't think i could ever be THAT small town. We got back to Tammie's just in time to rush to the airport and we boarded the plane that evening at 8.

All and all it was a great trip and I am glad I went. I understand Matt more now that I have been to Texas and met more of the people he grew up with. I say that because I am a sarcastic person and quite sassy. I didn't think I was that bad compared to my family because I consider myself one of the more mild ones out of everybody. Real Texans take things literal and rarely use a whole lot of sarcasm. Anyways lesson learned I should probably be more genuine and not kid like i usually do because some might not now I am joking.
LOOK YOU GOT THROUGH IT ALL! EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T I AM GLAD YOU TOOK A GLANCE... I DON'T THINK I COULD HAVE READ ALL THAT EITHER... (pat yourself on the back now)
